Firsties???

*Does a firsty dance.

Now from the last thread that ended so abruptly:

Same here today. 50s and windy and cloudy.

Man what happened to the warmth?

Just got a call from Laurelin. It seems that our kitchen cabinets will be here on Monday. Man that is going to be a crazy week. I have wed - fri off so that I can gut my kitchen, replace a wall, hang new cabinets, put in a new floor, replum the sink, and die (I think I got it all).

Oh wait - I also need to rewire the kitchen so I can move the fridge, and install a new kitchen light. There now I got it all!

Thank God we are having the Water Softener installed instead of having to do that too!

Yeah we are going with Pergo. I wanted to go slate tile or something but it just would not go well with how we are redesigning. That and I hate laying tile!

Got a great deal on the cabinets though (save about $500.00) cuz we knew the guy.

I am just waiting for the unexpected-cost-a-lot-of-money-to-fix problem that always seems to turn up.

Unfortunately, they call their models different names than stores do...and we haven't picked it out yet... gotta get Husband in to sit in them.

We're not getting leather (we have a 6 year old & a dog!) but are getting gouffrage dreamfibre, which feels like suede but is actually fabric. Marvelous stuff.

Mavourneen - How is this "gouffrage dreamfibre" with cat hair? I'm looking for a couch for a room populated by cats. I can't control how much hair comes _from_ the cats, but I would like the couch to be easy to clean hair from. I'd appreciate your advice.

Well, Flyvote...it's funny you asked. I have two elderly chickie babes at home myself. I was going to take a handle of fabric home tonight for

a) Husbands perusal - but his color vote doesn't mean sh*t to a tree..I'm gonna pick out the color. I'm humoring him...
b) To test the fabric and how it reacts to the dog/cat hair. (Easy to clean, resistant, etc)

I will perform my experiment tonight and get back to you!

Thank you, I do very much appreciate your help/tests. I have a large army of cats (which I am allergic to, but that's another story) and hair control is a priority. After the furniture is picked out I will be getting a Roomba to scamper about and do its job "sucking".

Make sure you borrow a Roomba from someone before you buy, and test it in any house with cats.
My sister spent over $200 for one a few years ago and it turned into the world's most expensive cat toy. Her girls kept batting it about and attacking it.

She sold it a friend for $100 a week after buying it because the store wouldn't take it back (bite marks & all!)

This will be a new Roomba just for that room. To supplement the other three that we have. Our cats run away from the Roombas (Roombi?) except for the deaf one. Cat that is. Well the Roombas don't hear either.

Roombas work OK, but don't have a great battery service life. I need to replace some battery packs.

The Scooba is even better. Leaves floors squeaky clean.

They have Scoobas now? (pretty sure it's not Scoobi as that would be too close to copyright infringement) I'm so out of touch.

Roomba Cat Toys. I never would have thought of that. I might need to get a CatRoomba just for the fun of it!

Yeah Mav my cat would just pounce and go into hyper kill mode. The Roomba would be destroyed within days...sigh. This is why I have a real cleaning lady ( if she retires I will have to kill myself in some sort of ritual fashion before I am buried beneath the mess)My dogs believe the cleaning lady is the most wonderful person in the universe. I can always tell when she's pulled up out front as the dogs go into transports of joy bounding around like giant bones are falling from the sky...it's hilarious.

By the way I love your sofa...and curse you for showing me a site full of lovely chairs and sofas just as I am about to pick out replacement chairs...argh

Yeah my cleaning lady rocks!! Once a week she comes in and does kitchen, bathrooms, dusting and the vacuuming. Plus sometimes, if she has time, she'll do windows, or clean out the fridge or such. She's incredible too. She'll clean everything so it looks brand new...and all for $40 a week...which is why she is my hero!

It's kinda 2 jokes in one. In decimal, it would say "There are 3 kinds of people: Those who can count, and those who can't." I suppose the binary joke would have to have been modified to say "count in binary" instead of "understand binary".

Only because not doing so would bring undue attention to the hole in the wall next to the bed caused by a singularly strenuous, and slightly feisty baby-making experiment gone wrong. To cover the plaster repair, paint matching is a less desired alternative to repainting the entire room.

Well, if it gets deleted, I'll just have to add it again. I am sure we can come up with some stuff that will make it worthy of keeping.

In other news, the UPS guy just came and delivered my G36Ks (rifles for the 76th) and a huge box of beer supplies, and a FedEx lady brought my pistol holster. I am one happy medic.
