Yay for sunshine!! After two weeks, it's finally sunny and warm-ish here again. Just got back from synthesizing some vitamin D, heh. I feel better! Woot!

As much as I've hated the weather the last fortnight, it has been an interesting experiment. I spent time outside in the sun at least 3 times a week for 3 weeks during March. I started having more energy, my "as needed" time for pain medication got pushed back by a good 4 hours, some days not having to take any at all, I was able to exercise regularly, and my feet weren't nearly as cold as they usually are.

For the first week of cold-and-cloudy, I was still doing ok, but my feet started getting cold again. By the end of the first week, my medication time was starting to creep forward again, and I wasn't being able to go whole days without it. By the second week, I was having much more trouble exercising, and my energy levels were in the crapper again. This past weekend I was feeling sluggish and out of sorts, and was having trouble keeping with our "household diet". Yesterday hubby and I ended up building a fort in our living room and filling it with pillows and blankets. We snuggled up, watched movies, and ate popcorn (one of our "allowed" snacks), and tried to forget how crappy it was outside.

We're suppose to get some rain later this week and be partly-cloudy off and on, but hopefully getting towards sunny and 70ish by this weekend. If I can get outside another time or two this week, it'll be interesting to see how my health reacts, but so far, this seems to be confirming what I've read -- vitamin D deficiency makes autoimmune diseases and "unexplained joint pain" worse. I saw on the news that some people had snow for Easter. I don't think I'll ever be able to live anyplace other than southern California again!

Gorrram hell, I can't wait for summer!

So how is everyone else doing this lovely Monday?

CK, I sooo wish it would get warmer where I am...hasn't gotten over 50 this whole week...

And I will probably always hate Mondays...nothing good ever comes of them. Or more accurately nothing happens on Mondays...

CK, you and your sunshine are lucky indeed. It's been blah yucky cold & overcast here in Maryland. It was 34 degrees this morning!

NV, you didn't say one way or the other whether you liked Grindhouse. It sounds like you liked the second showing...but I'm not sure.

Or it's really cool that two grown adults aren't worried about the stereotypes of adult behaviour and can still have fun. Forts are fun, why should they be off-limits to adults?

Lol, Zeek, yep, a real fort! Chairs from the kitchen, all our extra quilts, and our couch pitched in to form the back wall. I had to strain my memory to remember the way my mom used to safety pin the blankets around the chairs so they didn't fall down. I must have gotten it right because that thing didn't budge until we took it down to go to bed (we needed some of the blankets and pillows, otherwise I think we would have left it up).

I will admit that we're kinda odd in that respect. We're both essentially overgrown 13 year olds with jobs (jobs that many 13 year olds would want, making things for 13 year olds...), and I think we would have a blast parenting a teenager. At this point I really doubt that we'll ever have kids, but we're looking forward to being the "silly/crazy/cool aunt and uncle" (our first nephew is due in 4 weeks! I just finished knitting the second baby bootie! woot!). But yeah, for fun we play video games, watch silly movies, go to Disneyland, go to the beach, that sort of thing. And make forts when we're both feeling icky and down. We're silly, and we know it.

Mav- I saw...and I'm afraid to try, 'cause then I'll get addicted to another expensive beauty product and MisterG is still reeling from the Bath and Body Works one:) LOL

MsG I love Fairly Odd Parents! The cartoons we watch tend to be more of the "viewer discretion advised" type (Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken, etc), but there are some "kids" shows that are really well written, quick paced, and very funny, like FOP and Powerpuff Girls. I don't see any reason why adults can't like stuff like that, with or without children, but then my whole family and most of my friends are overgrown kids like that (seeing my parents crack up at the Powerpuff Girls episode "The Beat-Alls" was priceless).

On the happy squee front I did finally get the Firefly soundtrack ( which I have just downloaded to my ipod)

SO how was everyone's Easter/Spring weekend??? I had fun. MisterG's brother came to town and we went out a lot and had a lovely shopping spree ( Bath and Body works pink grapefruit everything!! and a whole bunch of new tee shirts and tanks from Old Navy, plus a hot topic moment)

Well it seemed to make sense at the time.

I'm pretty sure I never road Mr Toad's wild ride. But I did think of another must ride. The runaway railroad. That thing was great. Had all the little animals all over the place too.

Omg Zeek, I haven't been able to go on Star Tours for almost a year now. Last time we went, someone farted, it was really bad. Strapped down in a tiny, air-tight, violently shaking box, willing the dialogue to go faster so we could get away from the smell. So bad!

And they added Johnny Depp to the Pirates ride last summer, which I'm not really a fan of. I like the movies and I like the other things they added to the ride from the movies, but four separate audio-animatronics of Johnny Depp, one of which talks and sings quite poorly, really messed with the overall feeling of the ride, IMO. Maybe it'll go the route of the Tiki Room and eventually revert to an older version. I can hope anyway.

We're planning a full-family trip to Disney World near the end of the year, and I'm reeeeaaaallly looking forward to that one. We got engaged in Disney World and went back for our honeymoon, but I haven't been with my parents and siblings since Jan 2002, just after hubby and I started dating. And the nephew will be about 7 months old by then! I can hardly wait.

Hmmm, MsG, it has been kinda quiet around here recently. Maybe we need a new topic to imponder?

Edit: Oh, and I love Mr. Toad's Wild Ride! They took it out at Disney World a few years back, but it's still there in Disneyland, in all its child scarring glory. Seriously, a 'kiddie' ride where the main character is hit by a train and goes to hell? Who thinks of these things!?

Hmm I don't think I ever rode on the runaway train. Must have missed it

Ok folks that's it...after D*C we'll have to do a Disney Imponderables road trip!!!

Hmmm new and lively topic...Ok how about what was your best and worst family vacation story?

My best is probably one of the years we went to Isle of Palms and I was 16 and got to go shopping with my grandparents for a ton of stuff and hang out on the beach and it was just incredible.

Worst would have to be Swazzy Hole camping trip. It was like some sort of insane mosquito convention with actual clouds of mosquitos following us every where. Plus it was raining any time there wasn't a massive attack squadron forming..it was horrible. To this day, my whole set of siblings shudders in horror when that place is mentioned.

Are you talking about the one in CA, or the one in FL?

I went to the one in Florida, and I was unimpressed. Dirty, noisy and expensive! And that was before I had a child!

I liked the Mickey Mouse ice cream, however...

Best vacation: Honeymoon with Husband. We drove all around Maine (and went to Montreal for 1 night) with no reservations at all, anywhere...stopping for the night when the mood struck, staying in places we liked, ditching cities and tourist traps. It was wonderful.

My beach trips to Nags Head, NC are pretty great, too. Lounging in the hot tub at night (outside) while looking at the ocean.
And here's my feet at my house in Nag's Head:

(And yes, those ARE actually my feet. See JQ, pictures of me DO exist...)

Worst? I don't think I've really had a bad vacation at all.
