Pg. 6, YOU TELL US section

"Please do an interview with DRIVE'S Nathan Fillion! He is funny, intelligent, talented and so, so sexy.--Denise Gary, San Antonio

Pg. 21 AN APRIL SHOWER OF NEW SHOWS (Roush Review...Matt Roush is a known fan and supporter of all of Joss's shows)

DRIVE: Why To Watch: If you miss the good old days of junky drive-in B movies.

Worth Watching: Hard to tell after test-driving a partial pilot (and perusing some scripts). As fast-paced as it is preposterous, DRIVE follows a caravan of unamazing racers in an illegal cross-country contest operated by a secret conspiracy. Both overheated and half-baked, at least it moves.

My Score: 5 (out of 10)

And the best part yet...full-page article on Nathan!!!
Pg. 33 ALMOST FAMOUS
Can DRIVE put sci-fi icon Nathan Fillion on the road to mainstream stardom? BY JONATHAN SMALL

NATHAN FILLION may not be a watercooler name (yet), but don't tell that to the legions of sci-fi geeks worldwide, who consider him the second coming of Han Solo. At last months WonderCon--a comic book convention in San Fransisco--Fillion made an appearance to promote his fuel-injected new Fox drama DRIVE. The result: mayhem.
"Do you remember when the Beatles came to the United States?" asks Greg Yaitanes, a DRIVE exec producer who accompanied Fillion to the convention. "That's what it was like--standing ovations, crying and women throwing their bras. He was bigger than a rock star."
Credit FIREFLY--the short-lived cowboys-in-space series that earned Fillion cult status for his role as Captain Malcolm Reynolds (affectionately known as Captain Tightpants to his groupies) and later spawned the 2005 movie "SERENITY". Now with DRIVE, Fillion's trading in his spaceship for a 1970s pickup, and he hopes to ignite the same passion with NASCAR fans as he did with the NASA set. So far, all systems are go. "More people have seen the promos for this show than all my other work put together," he says.
Fillion plays Alex Tully, a Nebraska landscaper with a shady past who must join an illegal, high-speed race across the country to find his kidnapped wife and collect a $32 million prize. Like his character, Fillion knows a thing or two about shifting gears. Back when he was a struggling actor in Edmonton, Canada, "I was four months away from getting my high-school teaching degree, with no money and no prospects," Fillion, 36, recalls. Then he got a call that would change his life. A casting agent asked if he would come to New York to audition for ONE LIFE TO LIVE.
Fillion nailed the part--and an Emmy nomination--and later landed roles on TWO GUYS, A GIRL AND A PIZZA PLACE, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, and FIREFLY. Earlier this season, he guested on LOST as Kate's husband. "I'm a huge fan," he says, admitting he acted like a kid on the set. "I took pictures of myself in Jack's glass prison, in the monitor room, and the cages outside."
It's confessions like this that make Fillion so appealing. Says costar Kristin Lehman, "He's genuine. There is nothing he does or says that is insincere, and people flock to that."
DRIVE cocreator Tim Minear, who worked with Fillion on FIREFLY, predicts he will be the next big thing--and not just at comic book conventions: "I look at him on this show, and I feel like if anyone didn't see his star power before, they can't mistake it now," he says. "If he would just change that name and make it something less unwieldy." Captain Speedypants has a nice ring to it.

After reading another thread about a similar subjct, I realized I forgot to mention the pictures.

The best pic is the one with the full-page article (he looks great in turquoise!) where he's leaning back on a blue truck. The other one is on pg. 37, there's a small thing about cars where DRIVE is mentioned and there's a nice-sized pic of Nathan behind the wheel (same pic we've seen before everywhere).

Ahh---should've been specific...the one out now (with David Caruso on the cover) has Nathan/Drive stuff in it, but the one I'm talking about in this thread won't be out until next week. This one has some guy from GREY'S ANATOMY on the cover.

Woohoo! I'm going to Walmart, folks!

Second-coming of Han Solo. Loved that. And seriously, did people really throw their bras at him??? I bet he was mortified/tickled pink. You never can tell with Nathan. LOL

Now I am learning about scary.

Thanks for posting this! Great article, and I'm really looking forward to "Drive" tomorrow night. (Wow, he plays a Nebraskan?? Guess what I am? First time I've ever had anything even remotely close to in common with Nathan Fillion. Cool! )
