My first car was a 74 Olds Cutlass. We called it the Big Blue Cup O Soup (BBCoS for short)

Don't ask me why.

Man I missed that car. My Mom bought it when hers died and then sold it to me when she had saved for a better one. Thing had a 350 Rocket in it. I am convinced it was the cars fault for all the tickets I got as a kid!

Now Mavis is a very decent car's name. I like that. I really wanted something a bit more interesting and a little less obvious than Ellie, but like I said its growing on me.

But why Stewart?

EDIT: Did you get the PM I sent you?
EDIT2: Smokie Treat gas price check : $2.89/gallon for regular.

Holy crap. The neighbor lady across the street had a four door olive-y colored one, black vinyl roof. It was a family car (she was a single mom with four kids, none of whom could drive yet. One day I had to deliver the kids (the oldest was a hottie one year younger than me, and I had the licence) somewhere or some such errand. I loved the Cutlass muscle cars from the years just gone by and even as a "staid" sedan, that car made me respect the breed like never before. I wonder if mom knew what she had...

EDIT: The only car of mine that ever had a name was my '57 Pink Lincoln Premiere. I can't repeat it on our PG-13 board. We refered to it as the "Big PPC" in polite company. The first P was for Pink and the C stood for Car...

My first car was a 1964 Pontiac LeMans.

This:

But this color:

We named it the Big Brown Shark. And I know exactly why.

My best friend and I were, at that time, enchanted by Eddie Murphy "Raw". The whole "blllurrrrrrp. You can smell it" bit coupled with "and a big brown shark came" were standards in our conversations. So gentile, we were.

I LOVED that car. It was fast, fast, fast. Did more than my fair share of off the line street drag stuff. Also, you could pull the key out while it was still running, so that was always a fun gag to newbie passengers..."here, hold these." And the driver side wind wing didn't lock (what happened to wind wings...they were pretty cool?) so I never had to worry about locking my keys in the car.

The guy I sold it to had had the same car when he was in high school, so bought it for nostalgic reasons. I would probably do the same if I came across one.

And oddly, my brother's first car was also a '64 Pontiac Lemans...but not the same one. Weird how that turned out.

EDIT#1: I don't know what a smokie treat is...but gas was $3.33 a gallon for regular yesterday. Double

Hey Rugbug. Holy Hannah, that is outrageous! Smokie treats are what I call my cigarette breaks. They are coming fewer and farer between, as I am in the process of quitting.

My first car was a 1974 Toyota Celica, brown with a hideous orange stripe down the side.
I got it after my sister got it, and it had the Olympic rings burned into the dashboard with the cigarette lighter.
My sister got sloppy drunk sometime in 1976 and had a friend drive her home. The Olympic spirit got the best of her, and she decided to burn the rings into the dashboard.
Boy, was my Mom pissed, on both accounts.

Oh man I am so beat. Last night we went to my sis's house to watch the ball game and of course babies a plenty. Both babies had colds though. So I play with the babies and then it's bedtime. Nothing will do Annie, but to have YaYa ( that's me) put her to bed. So I spent about 45 min with Annie snuffling on me. Really hoping to avoid the cold as I still am on the mend from the bronchitis..

RugBug is a goddess. Who is lucky enough to have such a chariot for their first ride?

First car: '81 Olds Delta 88. A two door boat. Charlie, Mom named him). Seems that was a good primer for my next car, a '78 Firebird, (never named). Seemed those drives to see the ex in Reno were shortened greatly by the presence of Beemers, Porches, and 'Vettes. Seems they were afraid to push the envelope past 130. Worked out well 'cause thats where the 'bird topped out.

I missed a few folks, but it seems I'm missing alot due to the phone. IT WON'T STOP RINGING!

I don't own a car,its hard enough to drive in NYC let alone find a parking space. I do own however a Honda Shadow '95 metalic purple and white Motocycle. It helps me get from point A to point B.

That is one of the many on my list to own one day. Problem is that in Mich they salt the roads in the winter so most here have found a Rusty Grave or should be put in one.

I wanted to get one as a project not a complete restoration.

Color - Dark metallic Blue (so dark it looks black most of the time). The bird would be a true black.

Street race it out. I even wanted (god forbid) letters on the front windshield. The front would say "Laughing my A** Off* on the back I wanted to blow up a NOS sticker to almost cover the glass and then under that it would say "Told You So"

Ah the dreams of the young at heart.

First car: 81 Toyota Tercel. Yay a car as old as me. It was grey where it still had paint left. There were no shocks and often the doors would freeze shut in winter. Sometimes with you inside. Kicking them open was not the best plan either. Did that once and then it was frozen open and wouldn't latch shut. There were many tricks as well. If you didn't close the driver's side door just right then you couldn't use the key on that side. And the tricks changed over time. When my brother first got back from college he was all confused about why the key didn't work and I had to explain to him the new process of closing the door. One of the radio speakers would randomly go out and you'd just try to hit a bump hard and that could sometimes jolt it back on. It also had the added bonus of sometimes turning on the center console lights which for the most part were never on. It was a sight of much joy when they came to life. There were no shocks left on that car either so you really could have some fun hitting bumps hard.

I really wish I had that car back. It was so awesome.

Ah the joy of car remembrance... mine was a white pontiac and I loved that car. It was like total freedom. My baby sis has very fond memories of being driven to guitar lessons each week. I'd pick her up from school and we'd always get there with 20 min to spare so we'd go to the bakery next door ab buy a cream cheese raspberry sweet roll and sit in the car and eat it and talk:)

A car named Booger. Now THAT'S a car name for ya!

Interestingly enough, I found out they only made 3 types of lock combinations for the 74-76 Celica, so if I locked my keys in my car, I would borrow they keys of this guy I went to HS with, who had the exact same car. His key opened my car, and vice versa!

Good to see you, NV. Sorry about the phones.

And the biggest advantage to owning the 'bird rather than a truck: Gave me the chance to say we were going to "hike" since the car couldn't get but a half mile into the woods. I loved hiking days with the ex.

Na I would just race them and take their cars.....hehehehehe

Me and a buddy had a lot of fun with my Nissan 200sx in the Army. We pulled the 2. 1Liter 4 cilinder motor out and put in a V-8 scary motor (I don't even remember the horse power it had) that his brother modified. He got in trouble with his wife because when he was done the thing only got 3 miles to the gallon.

Anyhow....we had to modify the Engine Mount Bolts on my Nissan and put the Radiator in the trunk (which was good because the car was rear wheel drive) to make it fix. Then we took it to the drag strip in Panama City Fla.

OMMFG! When I took off from the starting line I heard (yup heard) the frame start to bend in my little steriod O.D'ed car. I let off on the gas halfway through the 1/4 mile race and still beat the guy by 3 car lengths.

My friend ran over just a yelling and screaming. I got out of the car and told him to drive us back to the shop cuz we were taking that motor out before I killed someone (more than likely myself)

Unless it is a trick question (all redheads are born none just spring into being) then the number of redheads in the U.S. is actually greater than the total number of people in either Ireland or Scotland.

Did we ever hike. Rarely made it quite as far as we told everyone, but the details are better suited for a place rated higher than PG-13.

ADD: I watched a very attractive young woman get tattoo'd fron the edge of (place unmentionable), up around her waist and her lower belly area last night. Very intereseting color and style and the tat wasn't half bad either. Kidding. The tat was great.

Okay. First crushes. I've mentioned this before, but you can never humiliate yourself too many times on the internet, I say.

My first crush was a boy called Esteban. He starred in his very own TV show. He was loyal and brave and kind and a true adventurer. He ventured accross stormy seas to uncharted lands I had never even dreamed of, all in search of his destiny. From the moment I first saw him, I was smitten.

Alas, he loved another. Her name was Zia.

Also, he was a cartoon. But I knew these little things could not stand in the way of our love!

EDIT: SHUT UP! I was eight years old, okay?
