You ever notice when most slutty people are arrested they don't mention their job. It's not like they say "plumber arrested for having sex with employee...film at 11" but if it's a teacher or a religious leader... bam that's all everyone can say " teacher arrested for sex ring" Not once have I ever heard the headline " reporter arrested for sex or drug scandal" I mean it's good the evil teacher got caught, but couldn't you just say Margaret Smith arrested today for sex ring instead of Teacher arrested today for sex ring???

Forgive me if this isn't explained very well but her disertation is on the use of non-verbal communication support in langauage aquisition in mainstream schools. To summarise, she is doing a degree in early years education but she's a qualified nursery nurse whose done a lot of work in special needs school so she got interested in using the extra communication methods such as makaton (which is like sign language but is always signed with speech) when she is in a mainstream class reasoning if it helps those with special needs it might help mainstream children and help with inclusiveness.

Hope that makes sense, I think I am going to be an expert once I have done proof reading on Monday so ask me to explain then!

Ah. That's actually interesting. I wonder what effect it has on the kids' communication skills. Are the hearing students left with a complete inability to control their expressive hand gestures? It'd be ~really~ interesting if they picked up on the language and started signing back. I know hearing kids born to deaf parents do that.

MSG - think about the other roles that get mentioned by job title in such matters: "Rock Star in Sex Scandal!" "Pop Star in Sex Scandle" "Hollywood Actress in Sex Scandal!" "Supreme Court Judge in Sex Scandal!" doesn't seem like bad company

LOL at Flyvote's response

It seems to have a very positive result, she tends to do it with classes she's had and the kids get really into it, to the point where she was having to research signs the kids wanted to know.

Ha! That *is* cool! It'll be insteresting to see how it helps their communication skills in other areas. Kids are great when they get enthusiastic about something.

One of my high school teachers was recently picked up for a sex related charge. What irks me is it is 2 years later, and the student in question was 18 when things happened. I am not sure what kind of paperwork you sign when you sign up to be a teacher, and I will agree that it is highly unethical, unorthodox, creepy, and concerning, but how does it translate into a criminal offense? I ask not out of anger but out of a genuine desire to know.

It falls under the same blanket as doctor-patient, employer-employee, therapist (or as Benny Hill spelt it: the rapist)-client; those in a "power position" have an additional legal onus upon them, because of the ease with which they can do their unethical deeds. The lesser empowered have need of the protection from those who can exert undue influence over them and exact undue consequences on them.

Actually it's not illegal ( at least not here) as one of my friends had an older brother who( at the age of 18) slept with and impregnated the 43 year old poetry teacher. They ended up getting married:)

Ironically, in a Georgia case the teacher married the kid and was able to bypass the law (the kid was 13 at the time. So MsG in your example, which came first, the chicken or the egg?

In the Georgia case I think the egg got laid first.

RIMG, Teach a man to type and he'll drown in p0rn; give a man a Tag and he'll post tricky for life! I do like you friend but DTH is right: I don't fuck for beer. That said I shall be bringing along the closest thing to homebrew I have: Vernor's!

DTH, though you are probably gone by now, I shall NOT delete the posting: you owe me a pic! But I will edit to add the "anti". Or is it up the "ante"? Whichever. My mailbox awaits.

Hey Gee - it makes perfect sense to me - I am a qualified nanny with just one unit less than a nursery nurse and I, too, have an interest in kids with special needs - I used to volunteer and do emergency relief work in a school for intellectually disabled kids and used maketon lots and I do tend to use it automatically when I am struggling to get my point across to very intellectual able kids to this day!! They know not to push me any further when I am using Maketon out of frustration!! Wish your girlfriend all the best for me - I wouldn't mind reading it too if it's ever published on the 'net!!

STINKINGROSE

PR
Hormonal swings and a possible sinus infection (or really bad pollen problem) had a lot to do with it. Basically I started out the morning at work dropping things and forgetful, then couldn't do anything right and got spoken to by one of our NPs like I was a child or an idiot (she can be a bit of a bitch...), which upset me, then had something else go wrong, did not put 2 and 2 together and had a patient get undressed for the annual she was scheduled for instead of the blood pressure check she needed, had the other clinician there (who is usually quite pleasant) basically ask me where I'd left my brain on that one, wound up in tears *WHICH I NEVER DO* and couldn't figure out why I was such a nutter. Then I realized I'm about two days out from the end of my cycle.

Plus it was a warm sunny day and I really wanted to play hooky but can't.

It just kind of sucked all day at work, but it got a little better after lunch. Somebody had brought in lemon meringue pie (store bought hallucinogenic yellow crap!), so I ate two small pieces. Plus some of the cake.
Still needed chocolate and didn't get it.
Hey, nobody died. I just couldn't stop dropping things, blood pressures kept coming back wierd, all the problems seem to come in on a Friday. I had to figure out how to do paperwork for a male client who wasn't having an actual visit that would have gone on the male visit sheet. (We don't get men in, like, EVER.. unless they're getting treated for whatever they gave their girlfriends who are our patients and they come in together). Just a generally wierd and frustrating day and I was not feeling up to snuff.

Hubby did not get around to making the phone call to rent a moving van, so we're another week away from getting the house on the market. He was busy, but I'm just getting very frustrated with how fast the weekends go by and we don't seem to be getting noticeably closer to finished.

Working hard here, there, and over there, and not seeming be getting much done anywhere just upsets me.

We're borrowing father's pickup today to try moving more s**t. Gonna toss the old fridge too!

I just want it to be done so we don't have the other house hanging over our heads, we can focus on the one we're living in, and I want to spend some nice weather with my family having fun for a change.

I am just *waaaaaay* too demanding, aren't I?

MAGDALENA

"No power in the 'verse can stop me!"

Hug attacks poor SRose!! You deserve so much better sweetie - I know how it all seems to happen at once - try 6 deaths either in your extended family or in the immediate family of several close friend in as many weeks and a dose of 'broken heart' add in a manical employer who seems to find fault with everything you do and an awesome wedding where you drank most of the champagne on offer and danced with large amounts of black bra showing to your minister and several of the Elders from your church (oh - OK I just threw that in to make you realise how wicked I can be...) and you get an idea of what I am feeling - so I totally sympathise...

P.S. One friend's 22 year old brother committed suicide and nother 23 year old friend's mother died of post op complications following a hystorectomy... it has not been an easy few weeks...

Things are looking up though - and that which does not kill us makes us stronger!

Sending hugs and good vibes your way Honey!

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Sounds like a hell of a day.

I'm just 90% sure I'm going to lose my job.

Nothing to worry about, right?

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

Got in to work last night and found a note from my boss. She's "concerned about my performance" and wishes to "discuss my future with the company" some time this week.
