You guys have probably seen this (most Browncoats on here seem to have an onboard radar for any new announcements regarding the 'verse ) but IGN have just picked up on the fact that there will be a Serenity Collector's Edition. Gotta admit that that the cover looks mighty fine, but is it just me, or are the extras virtually identical? Just seems to be the new addition of River's psychological test aaaaand...that's it.

Just wondering how many of you guys will be ponying up the dough...'cos I gotta admit, it does look pretty damn shiny!

Well all of the disc 2 stuff is new for the American market so for us at least it's got gobs of new stuff.

I'm fairly new to the 'verse and I have just about everything except for the Serenity DVD. I was going to buy it, but then I heard about the collector's edition coming out so I pre-orded it on Amazon.com. Figured waiting till August is worth getting more goodies with the movie

I've seen the all the other extras online, but it'll be nice to watch them on my big screen finally.

Was the UK Serenity 2-discs? I thought only the Aussie version was 2-discs.

Serenity Collectors Edition, I'm buying it. I've pre-ordered one direct from Universal. http://homevideo.universalstudios.com/details.php?childId=36897

Also a few Christmas presents at stores.

The link says UK. But it doesn't mention it being a region 2 dvd. I hoping they will release it in the UK too. For collectors. i.e. Collectors Edition.

Ummmm, yes?

I already own the Aussie 2-disc version, US version and HD version. And I'll be buying the new version, specifically for the new commentary.

I now realise how stupid a question that really was. The reason I asked it is because my 1-disc DVD has all the features in bold (I think):

Disc 1

* Joss Whedon Introduction
* Deleted Scenes with commentary by Joss Whedon
* Outtakes
* Extended Scenes
* Take a walk on Serenity with the cast and crew
* The Green Clan- an Expose on Cinematographer Jack Green and his team
* We'll have Fruity Oaty Good Time! - Original version of commercial
* Feature commentary with Director Joss Whedon, and Nathan Fillio, Adam Baldwin, Summer Glau and Ron Glass

Disc 2

* A Filmmakers Journey - From Script to screen
* Future History- The Story of the Earth That Was
* Re-lighting the Firefly - Trace the story of how a canceled television show gains a following to become a major feature film
* What's the Firefly?
* Session 416 - These Internet pieces document a portion of River's psychological study and her interactions with her therapist
* Sci-Fi Inside: Serenity

Soooo, I was just wondering was it going to be worth it in the long run. But, hell, if the Aussie and American versions only had the first disc content, then it's a ruddy bargain.

And, I have to admit, I would like to hear the commentary with half of the gang present not just Joss like my copy had. I think you guys have brought me round.

The Aussie was a 2-disc version.

And yeah, I anticipate watching the commentary several times. I love the Joss and Nathan commentary on Firefly: Serenity episode and also Director James Gunn and Nathan commentary on SLiTHER DVD. Very funny stuff.

And the cover. I like the cover much better. You know it is a movie about a spaceship and not about some woman named Serenity.

SWEETESTHAT

I hate the double-dipping on DVDs, I really do... I want to buy a movie once, not repeatedly to get more special features. Especially as I am on a Browncoat-type budget and not one of those moneyed Alliance folk... >sigh< But to support the 'verse, I suppose I will get at least one copy. (And then I won't have to argue with my fiance over who has custody of the BDM! Shiny! )

If only I could, right now, I'm saving up for The Chosen Collection, maybe after I get a steady job, I can afford the special edition.
