Hi Browncoats:
I haven't checked in lately because I've been far too busy on the BDM! Somehow, I think you all will forgive my absence... the movie is going to be shiny beyond belief.

That being said, word has reached me that somebody has been posting here and elsewhere, shall I say, dubious "facts" about SERENITY. I'd like to set the record straight on a couple of them:

(1) SERENITY. The movie will be shooting in bee-u-ti-ful Los Angeles and thereabouts. Sorry to all you folks in upstate NY and Vancouver. Did anyone think that Governor Ahnold would let such a valuable film franchise leave the state? I think not!

(2) FANMAIL. Please do not use any of our actors' home addresses that may be posted somewhere on the WWW. While I understand that it's well intentioned mail, it's really not cool and I personally think it's a invasion of privacy. Feel free to send mail to any of our actors at the ME address: P.O. Box 900, Beverly Hills, CA 90213 and we will get it to them. Really.

(3) ACTORS. All of our FIREFLY actors were invited to return for SERENITY, and we plan to have all of them in the movie, period. As has been noted elsewhere: deals, schedules and contracts take time and until the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed, it ain't official. God may be in the details, but the Devil is clearly in the fine print. I'm optimistic that the full crew will be on board.

(4) Official Posting Board. I'm in discussions with the folks at Universal about the SERENITY site and board. No current time frame, but hopefully, we won't have any downtime between here and there. BTW, STEVE, thanks for the movie folder. You are truly a Browncoat and a prince among moderators!

That's all I want to set straight for now. If I killed all the rumors, speculation and potential spoilers on the OB, there would be nothing left to talk about except politics and religion. And God knows we don't want to go there! ;)

Best,
Buchanan

Multiple thanks, SHINY! I really ought to check the OB more often! We get all 10 characters!!

Interesting coincidence...The last time Chris posted Major News (i.e., 3/3/04, BDM Day), it happened to fall on the same day that NASA announced having found definitive evidence that the rocks at the Opportunity site on Mars had been altered by water. Today, it was announced that there had actually been a SEA (or at the very least a large salty pond) at that site, hospitable to (if not necessariy inhabited by) life as we know it (,Jim...).

And so, once again, we are treated to evidence that water *can* be found in the desert!

Keep flyin'

Be at peace, Maker. In order for this post to have been faked, it would take an actual hack (crack? My terminology is impaired). "affablechap" is Chris B's handle (one to a customer). As others have pointed out, they really ought to give the guy a gavel!

Also, the writing style is a lock (not that I've performed any kind of Sekrit Analysis, but my intuition is pretty good about such things, usually).

I do believe that what we have here is an actual horse's mouth scenario (watch out for the oats!)

Yup, I see it now, he said with embarrassment. When I went to the link it came up looking weird, I then tried to find it manually at the OB, looking in the usual places, namely General Discussion. I didn't know there was a Firefly Movie folder. Slaps head! Chris's post was in that. Ack!

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Woooo Hoooo!

This is great news! First Cappy posts and now Chris posts this update. Truly a good day (marks March 23rd on calander).

Glad he cleared up the whole LA/NY site thing. Guess the NY peeps will be a bit depressed, but good news for your shiny CA Browncoats.

I am glad I held off on sending my thank you cards to the cast. I was sort of uncomfortable sending them to the addresses listed at the OB earlier as they seemed to be home addresses for the cast. It was a bit creepifying. We may be rabid fans, but I don't want to be mistaken for a stalker or anything. I will be sending those cards to ME to pass along now.

Quote:

I'm optimistic that the full crew will be on board.

This is the best part. If Chris is optimistic the entire cast will return, then I will take it as a very good sign that Alan & Ron will be there. I just knew it had to be contracts, etc gumming up the works and keeping them from signing.

An official posting board for the movie? That would be great! I just hope it is easier to navigate than the official board. Maybe more along the lines of this board.

Truly hopeful news. Now I know I will be having another great day.

Thank you, Shiny, for keeping us in the loop.

I so prefer to hear word on the movie from official sources like Chris and Nathan. And I can totally understand that they need to wait until its a sure thing before they post news. I'm just glad that they appreciate how anxious we are for news and post for our reading enjoyment.

Chris Buchanan is no less than the co-executive producer of the movie, Serenity. He's also president of Joss Whedon's producing company, Mutant Enemy.
(And, maybe you saw my earlier post about the authenticity of this info, expunge it from your mind.)

Great. Thanks for the claification on the identity of Chris Buchanan. It is great these guys keep whetting our appetites on Firefly. It's really remarkable that any of this is happening with a show that only aired, what...12 episodes?

And Teela, the signature is from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, where the father while speaking with his son motions his hand toward the window (to signify the kingdom) and says, "Someday, lad, all of this will be yours." Think I'll add that in...

Hey, don't get me wrong, I love margaret atwood. It's just the intro from a Mark Jarman story I read once, which is about...big suprise here.....Margaret Atwood. And you have to admit, she does tend to make herself heard quite a lot.

You know, I had never seen a single 'Firefly' actor anywhere before I saw this show... (Except Wash in "A Knight's Tale," granted, and River in that "Angel" episode, but I didn't know that until I saw the rerun...)

Anyway. Suddenly there's Ron Glass as Ross's divorce lawyer on "Friends."

It is comforting to know that someone who worships Jayne watches the Women's Channel, though.
