Oh, for God's sake! Won't you people just let the "I hope Joss reads this!!!" thread die the death it so richly deserves??? It's a nice story and all, but if Joss hasn't read it by now, it isn't gonna happen. Sheesh.

If it bothers you, IB, I'm truly sorry; however, we are bumping the thread for several reasons, not the least of which being to show support for Static while he's trapped in the 'Stan. Until he comes home (or Haken tells us it's killing the server), we will continue to bump this thread. We are all aware that if Joss hasn't seen it by now, he may not (although the way he lurks, he's probably seen it a few times). We are also bumping it to show new fans the kind of effect the show still has... One added bonus, maybe the gorramn FOX execs will see it and get a clue (but that might be stretchin' it a bit!

).

All in all, it's one of the ways those of us who bump show support and solidarity. If you're upset by it, don't read it. *Note the distinct lack of snarky tone*

I am deeply appreciative of the efforts made by folks to keep the story high on the list so that it can be read by newbies. . .and keeping it up until I come home.

I also want to make sure that everyone knows that it would NOT hurt my feelings if it didn't. Sorry if anyone feels 'put out' by it's continued presence on the front page.

Note to self: Next time the "Who has bigger boobs" thread shows up, I'll just smile, not read it and move along.

I haven't been bumping Static's brilliantly written thread myself (and as a charter member of the harem, I certainly could) but I've been glad to see it.

Whether it's on the front page or not, some lurker wandering through the archives is going to see it sooner or later. It has a compelling headline, and a story that will touch them one way or the other. They'll read it and will either feel compelled to reply to it, or post their own "Hi, I'm New Here" thread because of it, bringing another fan into the ranks.

I'm scratching my head as to why that's considered a bad thing.

On the other hand, this headline is going to be read by those who wonder if your goal is to sabotage Firefly fandom altogether. That's what brought me in here. That seem right to you?

Yeah...that's why I love this site. Even posting a semi-controversial thread won't get you flamed. Sorry if any of you feel that I'm going anti-Static; that ain't it at all. Actually, I'm there with you. I won't bump something unless I have something worthy enough to contribute. When I ran the prayer thread for Static a few weeks back that little principal became problematic and I may have gotten a little carried away...no, actually, a LOT carried away. Made it look like I was freaking out, but did I ever use the word bump?

if i may, a possibly compromise presents itself to my simple little mind... Why not just make a link to the thread a permanent feature on the front page? No more need for 'bump' posts that only add to download time of the thread ( for newbies and cast/crew alike ) and giving it a place of prominence so many feel it deserves ( otherwise, why would they go to the bother of 'bumping' it for as long as they have? )

Just my 2 cents ( for what they're worth, which, being canadian, is like 1 and a 1/4 american pennies. ) :smile
