I enjoyed CHUCK surprisingly, then came my Heroes and I just..... melting mind won't-let-me-assimilate......

I LOVED IT.... SPECIALLY THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Select to view spoiler:

Nathan's a mountain man (and finally said what we all knew, his momma's eeevil), Kensi's English, we got's another flyer (that looks a little like Clark Kent), Mohinder isn't a pushover anymore (about time), Bennet showed that annoying manager how things really work in the paper business, Matt's back without the annoying wife, Molly's dreaming of a nastier boogey man, there were 13 bosses in the company altogether (unlucky number), Hiro's dad.... *sob*, we have a new hero in Mexico, and she may be related to the Hands of Blue, and OH MY GOD! PETER!

And I'm spent..... if CHUCK manages to stay around and be as much fun then my Monday's are glued to the telly.

Thank you NBC, you've put some faith back into TV.

Don't puke on the C4.

As for Heroes...

Select to view spoiler:

"My sword!" - Hiro and the Kensai.
The village gets toasty.
Hiro gets knocked out... again.
Parkman lives!-in Suresh's apartment, is divorced, takes care of Molly, and made detective.
Little Fort Knox.
I also thought that girl was a human Blue-Hand-Group-brain-melting thing!
Claire's a robot.
Was that Sylar?
Peter's in a cargo container in Ireland with his memory wiped clean.

...on par with Jossverse. Sweet Yoruk, what a show!

I LOVE THIS SHOW! Poor Peter, lost his memory (I actually had a fan story idear about this once) And yes, Hiro really needs to work on that glass jaw of his. Either that or begin to learn some defensive moves. And Nathan, seeing a burnt Peter instead of his reflection. I just hope hope hope Daddy Nakamura isn't really dead.

And no that hooded man who attacked Nakamura wasn't Sylar, he was one of the 9 main bosses left. You'll note Nakamura said "Of the 9 I never expected it was you." Sylar (gabriel Gray) was a simple watch maker well after the Company was established. And, hey, Mamma Petrelli decides to put the blame on Nathan and not take any responcibilty. "EVIL!"

Put in spoiler's for those who insist.

I agree that it definitely wasn't Sylar. I think the strongest and most interesting parts of the story had to deal with the 9 bosses and the reoccurance of Kensei's symbol. Overall I enjoyed the ep, but let me say what didn't work for me:

Select to view spoiler:

The cheerleader, gym class thing was a little too "teen movie" for me.
Claire's new little boyfriend having a power: how is it that nearly every protagonist in this show has a special ability??? If at any point Ando realizes he has a power I vow to cry, "SHARK!" and never watch the show again.
The new, south-of-the-border characters. Personally, I just think we already have enough characters and while I know they have to introduce new ones sometime and later perhaps I'll be attached to them, right now I'm wondering why, in an extended episode, did I not once get to see Niki and her whole family.

Well, now that thats over; I really enjoyed for the most part! My only real problem with the episode was that it ended...I wanted it to just keep right on going.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I absolutely enjoyed the season premiere. It was a long wait, but worth it.

Lots of changes since we last saw our heroes, but the writers caught us up well enough.

Looking forward to next week.

I began watching the first episode of season 3 (HEROS) last night. Got ¾ the way through then the electricity went out. We’re getting pounded by storms on the Gulf coast again but it isn’t to bad. Anyway I was interested and plan on catching the second eps next week. I’ve been hearing a lot of good talk about HEROS so could be I’ll break down and get season 1 & 2 so I can catch up. This is all CHUCK’s fault ( a good thing) I stumble upon Adam’s new show starting last night as I was browsing the tv stations. I was able to see all of the premier eps and think NBC may have a winner. Adam did a good job in his role and yes it was a green shirt (smile).

Future eps of CHUCK;

Customer walks in and finds Adam (in his green NH shirt) working on the electronic equipment he’d brought in earlier.

Customer; “ Did you get it working?”

Adam; “ I applied the cortical electrodes but was unable to get a neural reaction from the patient.”

"I broke history!" --Hiro

I was waiting all ep for him to make a Star Wars analogy (with Kensei as Han Solo, and the swordsmith's daughter as Leia --I wonder if she'll turn out to be Hiro's ancestor?)

Did anybody notice that amnesiac-Peter was wearing the Haitian's helix pendant?

Favourite scene ever: Bennet laying the righteous smackdown on that pretentious little toad boss of his. We've all worked for people like that, haven't we?

Well, I'm guessing Hiro is either going to actually do all the things Kensei is supposed to have done according to legend or is going to help Kensei "find his way." I personally hope Hiro just takes care of stuff. Still not sure how the symbol fits in though.

Good catch on the Haitian pendant, I have it recorded so I'll have to go take another look. What ever happened to the Haitian? Can we assume that he is the reason for Peter's memory loss?

I enjoyed Bennet kicking that twerp's butt too, although I thought it was a little hypocritical that he isn't laying low when everyone else is.

Ah, but that's the joke of it, no?
Great show!!!!
I just finished Heroes 1st season on DVD, and I get a follow-up ep right away!!!!
Kring is a great writer, on the narrative level, he's Joss' equal IMO. (Dialogue is another story....Joss rules.)
Peter alive?!?!?!?!
And all muscle-y?!?!?!?!?
I'm in for the entire run, my peeps.

One thing though....a virus?
Seems to me they fooled with that idea in another little show....Dark Angel, I think it was called?

SMAUG

Warning.. SPOILERS!!!

I will try to keep this concise..

LOVED THE EPISODE!! After two or three really incredibly episodes at the end of last season.. I thought the finale was very weak. Glad to see they are starting off with a bang.

Best thing about this episode:

1) Kinsey (sp?) back in 1671.. is a FRAUD!! That's just brialliant.. I LOVE IT!!

2) Jess-nika was no where to be seen!!! She is an "ok" character.. but I hate seeing entire episodes of just her.. her character is not that interesting. I thought she was much more interesting when you didn't know what her power was. i.e.. she just blacks out and when she wakes up people are dead. They never should have showed us what her "ability" is. I hope the new spanish girl they don't make the same mistake.. don't tell us what her "power" is.. just that people die.. don't tell us how.. it's much more interesting.

A few funny nitpicky things I didn't like

1) How did Hiro's dad and Mrs. Patrelli know that they were going to be killed when they saw their photo of themselves with the symbol drawn over it? What is that in chapter 17 of their secret societies by-laws or something? Right behind chapter 16 describing their secret handshake?

2) What the heck was Hiro's dad's power? Or did he even have one? I like that they don't overdo special effects and stunts all the time.. but how Hiro's dad "supposedly" died.. I mean.. come on.. all he had to do is take one step out of the way of a guy he sees comming right at him and the guy would have missed him. Let's see at least a little ruff and tumble smack down.

3) EVERYONE LIVED? Come one... Nathan... Peter... Matt... and they didn't show Sylar.. but we are pretty sure he is still alive. Not one of them died? At least ONE of them should have bought it.. And IF Peter was going to survive.. why in the world did they show it in the first episode.. that could have been a HUGE reveal in like episode 8 or so of this season. I am suprised they pulled out all these stops on the first episode.

4) Getting a little tired of the blanket of arrows shooting up into the sky and comming back down shot that you are seeing over and over again in so many movies.

5) The "boss" guy at Mr. Bennet's new "job". I know they are trying to be funny.. but too much "office space" type of silly. The "hero's" who have "fantasy" powers seem more real than this guy. I would rather see Bennet have to struggle to grin and bear the crap from this guy in order to protect the cover for his family than to do what he did. Come on... this guy may be being an A$$ (in a ridiculous way).. but Bennet isn't exactly being a model employee either.

Anyway.. just some nitpicky stuff... overall it was a GREAT episode... but still the worst episode of Firefly is about 10 times better..

Smaug..

I have thought Hiro was also Kensei since about 1:4... Now I have real hope! He'll take the armor and the sword, reclaim the village, win the swordsmith's daughter, and found a dynasty in the Samurai tradition, which morphs into the modern-day industrial Samurai tradition, which raises up Papa Nakamura... and he becomes his own great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandson.

First, I wasn't pleased with the way NBC handled the first season of Heroes. Didn't like the long breaks between new episodes and thought the layouts of some of the episodes were poorly done.

As for Season two, I don't like reading my television shows, especially when the text isn't on screen for very long, and isn't even in the same location on the screen.

As was par for the first season, we got to see a little from each of the story lines, which means none of them progress very far with each episode. I prefered the last several episodes from season one because several of the characters had joined together, which made the plot unfolder a little quicker.

I think the over all theme of the show and the story ideas are good, but I am turned off by the method they choose to tell the story. I keep watching to see if it gets better, and because my coworkers end up talking about the show the next day. :)

I understand the desire to make them like word balloons in comics, which I'm totally okay with, if they'd just leave them up on the screen a bit longer. They flash up on the screen and are off so fast I barely get a chance to read them. I've even had to rewind so I could finish some of the longer dialogs.

Laying low, protecting the lives of your family and yourself < taking some self-righteous pinhead down a peg.

The number of Stupid People(tm) in the universe is such that sometimes delivering a good whooping takes priority. I was kinda hoping Claire would do the same to those cheerdivas.

(Besides, "laying low" doesn't mean "nobody notices you." It just means "nobody suspects you.")

I don't know if Hiro's dad had a power but I agree that his death was a little silly, especially after all those sword fighting skills he showed off at the end of the last season. Granted he didn't have a sword, but I agree, how hard is it to sidestep someone?

I was also a little bummed that everyone lived. I figure either Sylar or Matt should have died. Matt got shot four times in the chest and as for Sylar, well, why show his life flashing before his eyes if hes just gonna get up a minute later and go all ninja turtles on us? I did think it was cool that they humanized him a little in the beginning though, showing him eating ice cream on the street.

As for the subtitle thing, I'm personally really glad they are doing this instead of magically making everyone speak English (or only having English-speaking people mutate). With hollywood being in American and the majority of the world's movies and tv shows produced in English, the rest of the world has long had to put up with subtitles and dubbed over voices. It kinda bugs me when I hear other Americans getting whiny about doing a little reading. Its one reason foreign films are such a hard sell in the States and there are a lot of good films made in other languages. Its sad really.

I caught the pendant and couldn't place where I had seen it before. Now that you mention it I do believe it is either the Haitian's or one just like it. The Haitian being involved would explain Peter's amnesia. Wonder if his healing factor would have any effect on amnesia.

Well, perhaps some of their past deeds involved assassinations, and this was a calling card they would use. So they know what it means, but not who's doing it.

what's really interesting is on the heroes wiki, (did a search relating to the helix symbol) is on the copy of the map in Sylar's Apt, there were many pics of people with the symbol drawn over them similar to the ones given to Mr. Nakamura, and Mrs. Peterelli, only the symbol was drawn in black, not red.
