NVG: Played tour guide to my geek (Jimi: You had your chance, and I'll still play tour guide when you finally drive down here...). Took my geek to at least one tourist-y-ish place per day (He's the one who wanted to hike Diamond Head and visit Haunama bay, etc.)

I wish you'd all stop talking about food, I'd cook for Rach tomorrow (staff meeting day) but not sure if I'll be back from work any faster as in Bristol, 5 hours of driving or so, oh joy! Good news I am splitting the driving with my colleague, which means that I get to sleep on the way back as I just nod off mid sentence when a passenger.

Emma, sorry about the shoe thing, there is another brand who are meant to be good for all day shoes but brain forgets however, don't you work in Northampton? It's the shoe making capital of UK and I know there are several factory shops and other stuff in town if I could only remember where. My pair of hand made shoes (strictly for suit wearing gigs, interviews, weddings etc) came from Northampton.

Yes horrifying slow cooker malfunction. It went mental and even though it said it was on low it went wild and pretty much ruined the dinner...so we will be getting a new one. The one we have is really old so this breakdown wasn't entirely unexpected. I'm just glad nothing caught fire.

I just can't believe I'm at school... so tired. I baby sat/ tutored from 3pm(right after school) until 10pm... and one of my tutoring kids had this massive packet of literary analysis on Frankenstein plus Geometry homework. I swear I saw my brain steam!!!

I tend to pass books along, reading them once or twice then letting someone else have them. I must have bought 10 copies of SiaSL, though to be fair some I sent directly to people and didn't read first.

I used to be a big time packrat, holding on to all sorts of sentimental things, but I got past that recently.

Gee - your book obsession is very familiar. I caught my mother throwing away a book yesterday and felt truely shocked and appalled. Okay so it was missing a load of pages and was really dogged (literally!) but still, you just don't do that! I HATE throwing out books, or donating to thrift stores, or anything like that. And it really upsets me when my 2 year old starts tearing books, even more than when his siblings are hitting each other. Screwed up priorities, I guess. Em- unfortunately what it comes down to is the new kids aren't smart enough to pass the required test at the required level and since we didn't make AYP( it's the required progress where each year the students have to do 10% better than the kids who took the test last year) we're on alert. We fail again and we lose funding. This years kids aren't as smart as last years so this presents some problems as they have to outperform last years kids by 10%...I really wish the progress was based on comparing how the kids improved from year to year instead of comparing totally different kids and assuming that if I were a good enough teacher I'd be able to make this group smarter and better than the group who came the year before...
