I am not familiar with this definition of "fun" of which you speak.

I guess I'll just have to run away by myself... =( ((sniffle))

Kids are EVIL!!!!!

Maybe it's just cause of all the babysitting I've been doing, but......Wait......No it's not, kids are just evil.

No, I see.
It's just that, if the wee ones will be tagging along, I'm going to have to bow out and do the child-free run away thing. The whole point was to avoid responsibility. Wee ones represent the need for a whole lot of responsibility. ^^

{MsB's examples o'Fun}
Fun- Annie is following my sister around whining
Fun- One of my students decides to

Ah. Yeah. Here's the difference.
Those may be examples of "funny," but not my definition of "fun." =P

Kids ARE fun! Especially when you take their toys away and hold them off from getting it back by putting the palm of your hand on their forehead!
And it builds character!

I have to agree with HK on this stuff. I love kids...other people's kids who have been raised right. There are several medical reasons why having kids would be STUPID for me. Beyond that...DAMNED I love my sleep!!! You can't get woken up with breakfast in bed and then fall right back into a deep waffle coma if there are small things bouncing around craving attention. So, I spoil my friends' and family's kids...then flee to "adult space"!!!

You get woken up with waffles in bed? I want your life!!!

I am undecided on the 'kids are fun' issue. They have been being particularly beastly to me recently (although to be fair, at ages 15-19 they no longer count as kids and are now technically classified at 'fiends from hell'). But then they do things like asking if it's true you're resigning (my how rumours fly) and please stay as you're the only teacher they like. Aaaah! How sweet! I've taught them how to suck up to authority! Guess the last year hasn't been completely wasted!

Oh dear, did I kill the bar?

Talk to me people and tell me of the horrors of your week.

Ah, just worked out why it's quiet! It's Thanksgiving over the pond! You are all gorging on yummy food and celebrating freedom from our dreadful tyranny!

Happy Turkey Day to all my US friends. Hope it was fun and not a day of family bickering.

*peeks in*

...Well, can't say I'm stuffing myself on turkey and all the trimmings (yet), but have been enjoying the time to actually do nothing. *gasp*

For the answer to your question "is it the job, or is it the workplace?" I'd say to see if it's the workplace first. (But then again, MsB and I are prejudiced that way )

Zero: I agree, if you're talking about college games...Blue should go...home after GREEN sends 'em home WAC-ed down to second

I'm with PheobeRosetta and HK on the escaping without kids...(and I work with them..) I'm sure that once I have my own, I'll be much more in the "with kids" camp on the "run away plan."

Thanks for the advice Neko, I shall try looking at other colleges. What I would really like is to teach at Uni level only, where they (at least theoretically) want to be there!

Anyone else emerged from the holiday coma yet?!

Not so much holiday coma as work overload, taking a mo to say hi all.

Wish I was more awake, moaning Emma asked for and moaning she shall get for apart from work being se I am off my drugs for more tests on Monday-Tuesday so been feeling nauseous since Monday and out at a gig tonight that I really don't feel like attending but it is a celebration night for two work mate's birthdays so I shall do my duty. Then in the morning I have to be up early and get a coat of paint on a kitchen wall before the old man arrives and we can discuss finishing of walls as men.

Only thing I can cheers myself up is my flash new mechanical pencil has arrived and my new fountain pen is on the way. Anyone would think I was starting the preparation material for my maths course

Anyway, must get on.

I'm sorry you're still not feeling well Gee. I've got a horrible cough that I can't seem to shift but that's nothing to your problems.

I'm off on a 4 hour drive to a friend's party now. Hope I don't fall asleep as I was marking till 2am last night. Taking 50 assignments with me to mark whilst my friends are having fun and getting drunk. **grumblegrumblebloddystudentsgrumble.....**

Why bring work with you? Leave it in the car, go have a good time with friends, and the work will be there in the morning.

*steps out, covered in a fine layer of dust*

Thanks gorramgroupie. Let me sweep up a little *puts on face mask for the dust* and make sure that the room has been vaccumed up before I re-load the room for anyone else.

*cleans out the breakables room* Ummmm...Kel? You might want to re-order a new set of shelves or something for all the breakables. *blush* *mutters* Ikindasortapulverizedthewholeroom, sorry. *places the breakables in the room for the next person*

*goes to the nearby locker room (for cleaning up folks after the breakables room* *comes out* *places an order for a froo-froo drink that would knock an elephant out* *wanders over to a corner where most of the room can be seen from* I never thought I'd see the day where I'd describe a person that I thought of as a friend as both mentally and verbally abusive to me.

No. Sorry. This is non-negotiable.

Thanks guys...and right now, no. I'm working on restoring my calm, or achieving River's prayer for becoming stone.

I'm not really ready to talk about the whole situation, but I've already wasted enough time and energy on this verbally and emotionally abusive, passive-aggresive, self-righteous...(you get the point) loser, that I really can't ask anyone to waste the time on this fool.
