Just checking to see how strong my addiction to this show is.
How often do you guys and gals watch an episode or the movie? Once a month, couple times, once a week?
I tend to take a few breaks from it but I'm probably in the order of about 2 or 3 times every two weeks. I keep wondering when I'll get tired of it but I keep popping the dvd in there. The box set and the movie just sit on top of the tv... I don't even bother to put them away when I'm done.
How about the rest of you?

STOWEAWAY

I'm not sure I've ever kept track of how often I watch. I just pop it in when I really feel the need to.
But I have little kids in the house so I can't just watch a PG-13 movie whenever I want. It takes more careful planning to eak out grown-up time. So probably less than what you stated.
I'd say I watch the movie or one of the Firefly discs at least once a month.
When I don't have time to watch, I pop in here for little tidbits of info to tide me over.

Nowadays, I'm down to an episode or two a week.

But, if I average it out over the past 5yrs, it probably would work out to an episode every day or two...:)

Wow. It always amazes me that people can watch the series/movie that often. I would like to watch it more than I do but I also love to watch other series and movies. And whilst Firefly is my favourite series there are many other great shows out there.
I don't know how you find the time to watch it that much, unless you watch very little else.

I'm probably in the region of 2 or 3 times a year for both (I always watch the series then the movie, don't like just dipping in or watching part of it).
I find that way I will probably never get tired of it (I would hate for that to happen).

Fairplay to those who can watch it that much.

One week every month I watch the complete cycle in order :
Firefly Series
Done The Impossible
Serenity

then I also throw in to "complete" the cycle :

Outer Limits : "Starcrossed" with Nathan Fillion
Outer Limits : "Phobos Rising" with Adam Baldwin

This helps keep me relatively sane.

I'm in with the 2/3 times a year crowd, but watching it all in a short space of time, including the film. Probably watch an episode a day for a couple of weeks.

((thinks))...

I don't think I've watched Firefly since around September 2005, when the movie opened.

I haven't watched Serenity since it left the theatres, with the exception of the Equality Now charity screening a few months back. Which, technically, was in a theatre, so.... um.... Yeah.

I wonder why that is...

I only watch Serenity every couple of months. I'll watch a few episodes of Firefly about once a month, but it has the advantage that you can watch it in Spanish and French, too, so that's a lot of episodes to go through before starting back with English.

Firefly was incredibly well synchronized to lip movements in Spanish and French, but unfortunately you lose almost all of the plays on words and unique expressions that make the series what it is. But it's a fun way to keep language skills up, anyway.

FARFLY

As I am retired and have plenty of time, all my TV watching is of my collection of series programs. Firefly, Wonderfalls, Buffy 1-7, Angel 1-5, Smallville 1-6, Joan of Arcadia 1-2, Party of Five 1-2, Lost 1-2, West Wing 1-7, Bones 1-2, Soap 1-4.

I pick a series, watch a season and move to another series. Firefly and Buffy get the most repeats.

If I can't decide, I pick a movie.. watch it.. then pick another series.

Between all that, playing golf, building RC cars, computing, talking to my grandchildren, I just don't have time for a life...

Seen Serenity about 11 times since it came out, Firefly wise I've seen 4 times since I got it which was about a year ago. I just really don't have the time to watch them regularly plus I got make time to work, watch films (about 4 or 5 a week), design stuff (Photoshop, 3ds Max), and play games.

Just watched the movie last Sunday with a bunch of browncoats. The real problem is that we get together once a month to watch an episode. So, I never want to watch one that is coming up in the next showing. So, I end up watching them out of order and there isn't as much draw to watch them that way. At least not to me. Plus I'm trying to get caught up on too much other tv.

DEEPLYKIDDING

I watch too often!! For the last few months (since about August) I think I was watching either an episode or the movie 2-3 times a week.

Also, I have this "thing" where I can't fall asleep without the TV on (if I don't my thoughts take over, and I get too wound up to sleep - I'm a very anxious person). Lately I've been keeping the BDM in the DVD player in my bedroom, so I turn that on as I'm trying to fall asleep. I start it at different scenes each night, because I always fall asleep about 15-30 minutes in. That way I'm not always watching (or listening) to the first 15 minutes. I can't watch something I've never seen before or I get so involved I can't fall asleep. Watching something I've seen before acts more like a sound machine - its there for background noise and to lull me to sleep.

Maybe that's why I can probably recite the movie line for line...

Plus, about once a month I have a mini-marathon of the series, and watch an entire disk of episodes all in one sitting. Since I have a rule that I have to be productive if I have the TV on, I usually get a lot done - knitting, drawing, paying bills, etc. Got my Jayne hat done during one of the mini-marathons!

I'd rather be a smartass than a dumbass...

Saw the movie twice, when it was in the theaters. Saw the Firefly episodes once, when I rented them. Haven't had time to do more. Bought all the DVDs, but have not viewed them yet. Lent them out a few times, to good effect. Plan to watch them all, someday.

I'm with ya on most of your TV viewing habits, but I never saw Joan of Arcadia - how is it?

Also, if you like those series, you might want to check out Tru Calling 1-2 (Eliza Dushku stars) and Profit (Adrian Pasdar stars). Profit was David Greenwalt's show, and parts of it will feel familiar to all those who know of the Wolf, the Ram, and the Hart. :)

I watche the whole series about once a year. I'm a netflix junkie, so I've always got stuff to watch.

I do have all the eps on my iPod, so I tend to throw one on whenever I'm stuck waiting for something.

I'm actually on course with Hells Kitchen. I haven't watched the series since the movie (I of course watched it to get keyed up and to make it seems like a continuity.... which it was not)

I did tape them all when they were re-run on Space (Canada) in order, strating with Serenity the pilot and the order of the dvd's (good on ya Space for doing it proper) This was well before news of the DVD's were coming out so while other people were going through major withdrawels waiting for the DVD's I just had to pop in my videa cassette (complete with Mal and Book's Earth That Was speech)

Then the dvd's came out, which I asked for xmas even though I din't have a DVD player (but got one of those as well) and played it quite a bit.

But now, with all the time that's past I really haven't had any interest (shockers) They're there, in my collection. Maybe my interest will come back soon. Or I'll just pop in the videa's and listen to Mal or Bokk's speech.

As for the movie. Watched it once. Put it away, watched it another time, then once more with commentary, and...... hat's enough for me.

My viewership is cyclical. When I got the DVDs, show and movie, I watched them once through. Then I got sucked into other stuff. Then I found some fellow browncoats and watched again. Then I got hooked on something else.

For a while I was watching an episode a day. Now, I've a new movie obsession. err...Jonathan Rhys Meyers obsession. So, firefly has been shelved for a while. I'll come back to it soon enough tho.

Oh! And I could watch the CE movie with commentary a hundred times over. It's too funny.

Me too, Chris. The CE is my most favorite shiny new thing still.

I'm on a par with you too on watching. When I first discovered the series and got the DVD's I watched them every day for weeks. That finally slacked off and now I watch it about twice a year. The CE was a constant player for a while after I first got it, but it's now put away to be gotten out upon occasion. Like you, so I won't overdo it.

I have new things that I love too, not as much as Firefly but I do love them... so I've moved forward ( as opposed to on ).

FM,

I watch the series just a bit more than you do. I have an exercise bicycle that I use about twice a week in addition to walking and swimming. An episode is just enough time to cycle a few calories off.

I also add Drive and other things by the BDH's to the cycle mix,

Then I get a hunger and watch all the episodes in order, then the CE...

I'm also going a bit forward. Watching lots of BBCAM, TLC, DISCOVER, FOOD NETWORK etc during the writer's strike and I'm sad that Chuck is over. Great work by Adam Baldwin.

I have not yet figured out my average, but i will say that on weeks when my set is loaned out again, like this week, and the week after I get them back, my average goes down. :D
At least now I have 2 loaner copies of BDM (from when bestbuy had them on sale) so I can still get my fix. Now if I can just find a discount price on the Firefly set, I'll have loaner copies of that, too. Currently they're with a coworker who just returned from his 2nd tour in Iraq, he likey.
The next loan might include a kid, so I might be loaning out my Companion books as well (for him to practice reading, as he watches the episodes.) That will probably get me jonesing fairly quick.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I'll be finishing up another marathon viewing of Firefly and Serenity later today.

Counting the time I watched the original showings of Firefly on FOX, this makes at least the 24th time for me, and considering it is now four years since the dvd release, that averages out to once every two months. That's just an average though, since when I first got them I watched the complete series almost constantly for a couple of months.

Tonight's viewing of Serenity will probably be at least the 12th time for that, maybe more, so that again averages out to about once every two months.

I watched it this afternoon actually on Sci-Fi channel. It was Shindig and one other but i cant remember it now. I always find it strange watching them on the tele because of the ad breaks you get and when i first watched them there wasnt any because it was on DVD. Still its always good seeing them any time
