America loves a winner!

or surprising ?

For me, it was a comment made by Morena. Well after the show had been cancelled, a scene from Jaynestown which involved Book and River was being discussed. ( Might be from a DVD or one of the panels, I can't recall ) As River was " correcting " the bible, Book gives his 'Faith fixes you' line. What I found interesting was that Morena had never even watched that scene, nor heard those lines. She was amazed at the power and beauty of those words. I guess what got me was how amazed Morena was at the incredible writing which went on around her. Despite the great writing which she was a part of during the show, she was still capable of being awe struck. I don't know, but for some reason that will always stand out to me.

The genuineness of the relationships between the crew... their bond is evident and really helps make you feel the reality not the fiction...

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

It's hard to narrow it down to just one thing, because it was so perfect in every aspect, but for me it is probably the fact that, in spite of it being set 500 years in the future and in another solar system, it still is the most realistic depiction of average human beings attempting to cope with the burden and mysteries of life I have ever witnessed.

...And among the Browncoats , too !

As Joss articulated so well , through Mal in the BDM , " that's what keeps her in the Air ".

These people could actually exist! All nine characters could be people that you could meet walking down the street! It doesn't matter that the show is set 150 years ago, now, or 500 years into the future. They're complicated, they have emotions, they have their beliefs, they have flaws, and they don't always get along. Sometimes they don't do what you expect them to do. But, when it matters they do what is needed. That still amazes me every time I watch the show or the movie. Every. Single. Friggin'. Time.

Not only could they "actually exist" but I would like all of them. In real life I don't know if I've ever been in a room with 9 people and liked them all.

I didn't say that I liked them all. I said that I was amazed that these were very realistic characters.

Jayne may have the funniest lines (when Wash isn't around), but you take that away and he's a class-A hun dan.

With Book, I kind of always wondered if he was going show his true colors. That "pious shepherd" thing never got passed me, not after he knocked Dobson out after he shot Kaylee.

And, I know that I could be friends with Inara, but her job disgusts me! I have a friend who is a phone sex operator. So, yeah. Disgusting. (I'm never around when she works, btw.)

I'm sorry, I thought you were saying that I had said that I liked all nine of them. Either way, what I said still stands. But, that isn't going to stop me from being a browncoat.

It's the way that the characters are so real in themselves and their relationships that they all worm into your heart and latch on tight. I can't not feel a certain fondness for all of them...even though when it comes down to it I really disliked most of them after my first few viewings.

Don't squat with your spurs on.

There are two things about the show that impress me. The first is that everyone I've ever shown or gotten to watch even part of an episode has told me how much they like it. The second is the loyalty of Browncoats, this board has been up for how long? And the show's last broadcast episode aired going on 4 years ago.

What amazes me about this show is that here it is all these years after it's been canceled and we're still talking about it.

I sent my friend a copy of Serenity Found for Christmas. She is very dear to me and I knew it would be exactly what she'd want.
She called me yesterday afternoon and we talked about it and Firefly for nearly an hour. Emotionally! With tears and remembrance of what we love and what we've lost. We closed our conversation with the same thought. Here we are still talking about this beloved show and we never get tired of it, we just discover more to love about it, the fandom and the friends we've made because of it.

I've made so many friends among the different Browncoat groups here and on other sites and how it has inspired us to do things not only for the Firefly/Serenity community but for other people as well.

Some them are Fans4Writers, Serenity screenings for Equality Now. Firefly for Firefighters, KidsNeedtoRead, DVDs and books for the troops overseas and other things too numerous to mention.

As far as the BDS and BDM itself, I'm amazed every time that I see it. I see something different every time. There are so many layers to the writing and acting or I pick up on a new historical/TV/movie reference that I didn't realize was there.

A week shy of 5 years ago was the last aired show, the Pilot.

Anybody know what the total sales are from the Series DVD set? The original BDM DVD? The CE?
