I am converting http://www.stillflying.net into a webcomic. I am trying to come out with at least 2 a week. Just put up Page 11 today so I am doing alright. I am starting to develop a style, so it is a learning process for me.

It is located at: http://www.fivestarcomics.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=16

The premise of the Still Flying is expanding the movie to be all of a virtual season 2. So some scenes will seem eerily familiar while others are totally new, with new characters and new locations.

Rich.

Cool beans! Can I say that your art actually looks more like the cast than what was in "Those Left Behind?"

One nitpick, though - Mal/Nathan's eyes are blue. =D

"Can you, for a moment, imagine how depressing it is to teach one thousand years of masculine ineptitude? Why do you think there are so few women historians? I'll tell you why. Because history is not such a frolic for women as it is for men... History is a commentary on the various and continuing incapabilities of men. History is women following behind with a bucket and a mop." - Alan Bennett, "The History Boys"

See that is what I get for asking people instead of researching myself. :) I asked some people in a chat room. I will fix it. Actually all the colorings even though they are "toonish" are taken from them. The skin color is from them, the eye color, hair color, etc. That is why everyone has a slightly different shade for their skin.

I have a long way to go learning this type of art. It is done 100% on the computer using either a mouse or touchpad (on my laptop) depending on whether I am working at work (I own a store and have a lot of time in between customers). My brother is a professional artist and is helping me through it by showing me stuff as I ask and doing most of the layouts. I am hoping that it is getting better from the start to where I am now and will continue to improve. For instance my first Mal looked nothing like him... ditto River, and most of the characters. :)

On another note I finished he inks for Page 12 and will spend several hours coloring it tomorrow, then I will letter it and upload it. Man I wish I had a wacom tablet. :)

Rich.

I think it must have been the very low lighting used on the soundstage, because Nathan's eyes usually did look brown. I think they even made them brown in Those Left Behind, so don't feel bad - it's a common mistake!

Can't wait for the next part!

No new comics, but I set up a permanent website for FFA since it seems I will be doing this a while. :)

I liked how Mosquito did theirs so I am using the same software. You can still see it in the Gallery at FSC but it now has it's own website as well. You can also subscribe to it's RSS feed or subscribe via email to it or download it to read in comic book reader format.

Whoa ! SHINY !

Get a wave out to the Cortex , and alert the 'Verse...That's so Gorramn awesome , I wonder why it's not been done sooner...

Okay , so you do think like a coder...That could explain it !

Good answer !

Only critique I could add is that Zoe looks a shade too reddish for my taste...Ease up with the spray-tan , willya Zoe ?

Looks like she's spent too much time on a beach...
(A naked beach ?)

Simon looks appropriately sickly , clearly a moneyed individual , soft hands , and all pasty-white...

I'm subscribed ! The waitin's gonna be tough...

Hi, folks. Just wanted to drop by as the head writer for Virtual Firefly over at www.stillflying.com to thank Hardcopy for the great job on the ongoing comic!

If you enjoy the story, keep in mind that "Lonely Places" is one of nearly 30 episode-length scripts we've done continuing the adventures of our favorite crew in virtual format.

Why not head over and visit for a while? Hopefully, Hardcopy will get to EVERY episode someday!

Great job, HC!

As a fan of VFF these have been great to see - thx HC! I really like the stylized approach you are taking - not like anything I've seen before, and since (as others have mentioned) your likenesses of the BDHs are so good it's been even more enjoyable.

Very, very shiny! Everyone looks like their onscreen selves, and I love the color-coordinated dialogue.

Thanks for the nice comments. It is hard work and I am still learning, I have never drawn this way (entirely on the computer) before and it is difficult.

I just posted page 14 and am not tired of it yet. :)

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Just caught up to page 15. Liking it so far.
