Hey guys , been a while!

I am wondering if anyone knew what kind of pants Mall wore and where I could get a pair.

You know the tight ones with the stripe?

Any info appreciated.

Miss you guys!

Mal's tight britches aren't exactly an off-the-rack selection ; those that can be found require some local alterations to be a passable representation...

The stripe , particularly , is something that you'll have to get added somehow...Some folk use a brown grosgrain ribbon about 1 inch wide , but close inspection of high-res photos show the stripe to actually be a corded fabric...Just do what you can make work for you at a reasonable expense...

Here are a couple of links...Wild West Mercantile carries their own 'Frontier Classics' line...The color to select is 'Wheat'. It looks way too light in the ninny-net photos , but what they ship looks spot-on...

You may also look at another brand ,'Wah Maker'; also carried by Wild West Mercantile , that are shown here , but I have serious doubt that they're worth the additional coin :

Just keep looking around , if you don't find something to your liking...These pants are often called 'broadfall' trousers...

'Cause if you look like Mal in these britches , you can make a broadfall in love with you...

HA! broadfall in love with me.... One can hope.

But surely pants with stripes are manufactured somewhere?

I was thinking they would have to be takenin anyways...buttons added for the suspenders...

I looked in there and they also carry syspenders. So this is a great site to get that Mal outfit started.

Shameless bump

dante144,

And if you need a replica of Mal's gun

I think they are going to make a holster someday too.

Suspenders
-These are close, however you'd need to bleach then redie them and switch the clips out for buttons for a better fit to the real deal- http://www.vietnamgear.com/kit.aspx?kit=32 (if you want to look for more of these they are called M1956 Suspenders)

Uh , yeah , somewhere...But , they're usually
COP'S Pants , most often a Polyester blend , and they could scarcely be less cool...

Only wear those if you NEVER want
to kiss a girl , or never want to go out with someone who looks like a registered Companion , and if you never want to have space-hooker sex , and no progeny...

Don't know if you'd have to take them in , that depends mostly on what you've got filling them out , but they already DO have the correct buttons for the Mal-ish suspenders...

Suspenders...that's a whole nuther subject : http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=13&t=26655...

Incidentally , though the M1956 US suspenders were similar , the Israelis developed another iteration of their own , beginning about that same time...The Israeli suspenders are doubtless the true basis for Mal's suspenders , as seen on screen in Firefly...

The Bulgarian copy of the WW2-era German item are not a bad beginning on a re-creation , as the Israeli ones have become exceptionally scarce...

It has become harder than Chinese Arithmetic to find them now , but hope springs eternal in the Browncoat heart...

Cool find ! Now there's the matter of convincing them to sell those with a BROWN stripe , and they'd start selling a goodly number to Independent-minded folk...

Send them some screenshots of Mal in his tightpants , and see if they'd make the Brown stripe just a tick narrower , like 1-1/8" , or 1-1/4" , or maybe just an inch wide , depending on what they can get , 'cause 1-1/2" is just a tetch too wide...

They charge $20.00 extra to get the pants without the stripe , what could be the big deal about making a Brown stripe avaialable in addition to those colors they already offer ?

Be sure to tell them there are over 30,000 Browncoats registered to this board alone , but that we're actually everywhere...
