I just discovered another Fox show that I really lilke. Of course I'm finding it a year too late because they pulled the plug on it 10 episodes in. Vanished. Its a lot like Prison Break or a lot like a Robert Ludlum or Clive Cussler book. Very interesting with a massive conspiracy plot throughout. You can watch old episodes on myspace vids.

Between Firefly which is one of my favorite shows and Vanished. I'd have to say Fox has ADHD. They can't stick out a show for very long. Actually some of the other networks have pulled shows I was watching - Journeyman, Life, and Bionic Woman. I don't remember this happening much to me when I was growing up - except the early demise of Enos.

I am sitting here thinking how long Dollhouse will last. The more I hear about this show the more I am certain it is just the type of show FOX will cancel. It is Science Fiction and leans toward anti-establishment. Also Joss Whedon is the creator.
That is the perfect formula for cancelation.
Joss has got to get together with the SciFi Channel. I think they would give him more respect.

I'm with you Traveler,...and so are a lot of us, over on the OB they have the petition going already and F*x has commented on it. Did you see the posting under 'the new F*x has a sense of humor?'(on this board) The new 'suits' seem to 'get it' about FF/S fans, I should say they refer to us as 'Whedon fans', not just FF/S fans. Like I said in the post,....little late isn't it?

Here's where it gets a little fuzzy for me.

1. You have a show that, some 6 years after the fact, still has a hugely strong and devoted following - and growing daily.

B. A show who's DVD sales sets records.

3. A show who's DVD is now being re-released in the latest tech entertainment advancement - Blu-Ray.

D. This "company" by the way, runs out and hires another company to put together the SE Blu-Ray DVD and dispatches a spokesperson to the above-mentioned fan's site to inquire about what they would like to have included in said Blu-Ray DVD.
(just think they thought enough of u$ to want our input).

5. A show (from 2002 no less) that kicks butt even by today's standards.

6. A show that could have won several Emmys and brought prestige and critical acclaim to its broadcast home.

I happen to believe that somewhere in the creative department there lives a cunning fox. Aside from Firefly, she/he has commissioned shows like:

Freaks and Geeks
Undeclared
Arrested Development
The Lone Gunmen
Adventures of Brisco County, Jr
The Tick (live action)
and
Andy Richter Controls the Universe.

Unfortunately, somewhere in the promotion/screening process, someone fux up and the execs cancel something special.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Hugh, your list is wrong in one particular.

Freaks and Geeks was on NBC.

But for F*X, you can also add:
Wonderfalls
The Inside
Futurama
Brimstone
Harsh Realm
Sliders
Greg the Bunny

Die hard FF/S supporter/lover, not a Whedon "kool-aide" drinker for the cause. No charity screenings, dressing up, learning chinese, or spending way too much time contemplating a cause that isn't unlike the independent's. Fx are morons and as long as they are in charge...... MOVE ON! I used to think trekkies were weird! No offense but some people on this forum fail to realize the world outside of FF is going to shit!

What's really sad about it is the network that shall remain unnamed made it's rep and got on it's feet as a network by holdingon and letting shows ( like the X-Files) gain a following ...then once they hit the big leagues they spit on anything that doesn't give them instant ratings gold....which is why they SUCK

To BDH,

I'm truly love this show, but I have nothing against those who choose to "dress up" (as a matter of fact some people make a good living doing just that).

I was directing my comments at the lunkheads who had a very different vision than those who have come to love this show. Namely the person who pulled the plug on FF at Fox.

This show is so loved that it attracts all kinds of people. And, as you have stated, the world we live in is in the sh*thole. That is something that's real and exists outside of our computer screens, televisions and movie theaters. I would never drink "kool-aide" for JW, or anyone for that matter, other than my family.

At first, I didn't agree with your statement to "move on" and that too much is being made of a lost cause. But now I see what your saying.

Wake up and come to your senses people, bad things happen in this world, its time to face facts and realize that this impossible dream about a show will never happen - stop dreaming!

Funny though - this show was born out of reality, which Fox chose to take a chance on and then, in their infinite wisdom, chose to cancel. It was so good it spawned websites and forums and the like where people like us "plain folk" could comment and exchange ideas. Well then, we come full circle.

JW created a world from his imagination that we have all come to love and love to talk about. We want to recapture the experience of discovering that world in anyway we can. We hope against hope that someone with enough clout will see what we see and produce this show once again, so that, for a few moments, we can be passengers on Serenity and forget about the sh*t in the world.

Your comments are truly appreciated by this browncoat 'cause it reminds me of why I love FF/Serenity.

Even if Dollhouse becomes a hit you guys will still hate FOX, even tho they have'nt canceled; HOUSE, BONES, 24, Prison Break, T:TSCC, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Cops, Americas Most Wanted and King of the Hill to name a few. Just admit it, you guys love to hate FOX.

i find that fox is a lowest common denominator network that believes that if a show isnt an instant hit will drop it like a ugly stepchild .i mean look at all the reality crap it shows .this is because it likes to spend as little on shows for the most gain .to be honest im glad firefly isnt with them anymore or they would be adding americas got talent charectors by now into the show and making all the shows have a pro government vibe

its a me miike

One show that did worse than Firefly in the ratings(in the same time slot as Firefly on Friday nights no less) for it's first season, and survived:

-The X-Files

And look what happened with the second season. Word of mouth, good promotion, and the ratings doubled.

Whedon said Fox just didn't want Firefly. It was all them. They didn't think it fit their image as a network.

THANKS FOX!!!

Agreed.

I don't hate Fox per se. I just don't like it when a good show, regardless of the network, is taken off the air because, well lets see.

I believe Oppyh makes a good point. Perhaps this is politically motivated in some way. Fox is known as a conservative thinking network following in lockstep with the current administration's modis operandi, and FF, although not strictly a politically motivated show, does have elements of independent thinking and love for freedom as its underlying message. And FF is more anti-corporate than anti-big government....makes you go Hhmmmmmm, doesn't it.

Well suffice to say that Fox has several "good" shows in their lineup, so why not have another hit show that would definitely increase the bottom line by attracting more viewers who may potentially buy the crap common folk can't afford anymore (Thanks Bushie).

BTW The X-Files was one of my fav shows - did you know that Mulder's first name was Fox - so thats a perfect example of a slow starter that turned out to be a hit for several seasons on Fox. And lighting would have struck twice with FF had the good folk at the network not felt so threatened by a show about 9 people hurtling through space in a tin can called Serenity.

But a new day is on the horizon, the tide will turn and no longer will our constitution be shredded to advance the agenda of the filthy rich and order will be restored to the galaxy...er, I mean the world. Damn that Firefly! Keep flying.

Thems that got shall get, thems that not shall lose,
so the Bible says and it still is news....
