I don't think they're ever going to do another Firefly series and to be honest, i don't really like the movie format for the story. What I want is a Miniseries, like the original 4400 - 6 hours of pure Firefly joy. And they could always do 2...or more...

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I agree. The Sci-Fi Channel has done some pretty good mini-series, usually in December of each year. "Taken" was probably the one that did the best ratings, but "The Lost Room" and "Tin Man" were pretty good too. Farscape got sort of a finish with "The Peacekeeper Wars," and Firefly certainly has a built-in audience. I have emailed Sci-Fi about that several times.

I am in total agreement. If it takes 6 weeks to shoot 6 hours of program, it might be possible to get the entire original cast back during summer hiatus.

gah! every frakking show under the earth has managed to re-appear after an initial demise in some form or other.

every show but firefly. every film but serenity.

Whitenoise 2!

Babylon Five the audio -

(at this point wytchcroft died of de ja vous poisoning).

*seriously though - check out IMPOSTOR; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0160399/
(the production history is just crying out for our BDH's to do the same)

Hey, Our Captain was in that movie. And he was very good in it as always. Great extras too. Especially Nathan's tour of the haunted mental asylum where they filmed the movie.

On a Firefly Miniseries, I think Serenity: Better Days would make a great one.

i've already given the movie a thumbs up elsewhere on several sites, incudimg this one.

but - the fact that it got made and (finally) distributed shows what can be done (you know the back story to the making and release of the film i'm sure) when people are stubborn enough.

so - why not Serenity II?
Whitenoise II is a SEQUEL after all to a film that did not break box office records,
has little critical reputation and no cult following
(certainly not on the scale of serenity).

ok, now, as we speak - there is nothing on the cards
and everyone is working elsewhere and joss is real busy
(for whch i am profoundly grateful - and excited!)
and i'm well aware of the exhausting efforts he (and many others)
went through to try and get a green light for further serenity
but - something went wrong somewhere - it slipped away.

FOR NOW.

... i am a patient wytch - i can wait a long time if need be.

as for Better Days - hell,
someone should just flash animate that puppy
and the voicing sessions would take two days.

Exactly. We hold 'til Mal gets back.

Not like Joss can call up actors, take a week and film something...oh wait he can.

/\THIS!

I've said that there was too much in the movie that some things (characters) suffered. Firefly was meant for TV, the long slow process of plot development. It's what got us all to watching and falling in love in the first place.

I would gladly give up a movie if we could have a YEARLY TV miniseries. Hell back in the 80's it was all the rage. Remember The Thorne Birds? Seymore and Chamberland were considered the Queen and King of miniseries. (showing my age, yep showing my age here, yep)

This way the actors won't have to compromise their time with their other shows. I LOVE this idear.

Agreed. Acutally I suggested this several months back on another thread. Why not a miniseries? Also with Sci-Fi channel serving as Serenity's home. I mean here you have a movie/tv series that has a built-in following, moreso than any other story since SW and The Matrix. This is 6 years and counting and the fans are only increasing. Their putting out a HD-DVD and yet.....

I recently read an article about Space: Above & Beyond, another Fox reject that just happened to be one of the best sci-fi TV series in, well, ever (almost forgot X-Files). Anyway, this article stated that due to some office politics (sound familiar) the TV show aired 24 eps and was abruptly cancelled. There was some talk that it was too expensive to make and of course - low ratings. Ahem! I did not hear this from any source, but I get the feeling that FF is doomed because somebody's toes may have been stepped on - if you get my drift.

Here's another problem that I forsee regarding getting any kind of tv series for our BDH. DVDs.
You see Fox has the DVD rights until, I believe, 2012. I get the feeling that unless some large corp with deep pockets coughs up several millions to buy out Fox's rights to DVDs from the tv series, we will not see our Firefly again. Why would Universal, or any other studio, want to make a tv series, mini or otherwise, when Fox would benefit from the DVD sales. So you see why Fox is anxious to get the Blu-Ray version done. They stand to make a killing from the sales. Remember the DVD sales from the series was some $60 million.

But, having said that, I'm encouraged by Universal's commitment in airing the HD version of the series. My message to Universal is - GO FOR IT! Go all the way. Purchase the DVD rights from Fox, make the miniseries, count the money. You will not be sorry. You guys will inherit millions of fans all over the world, as well as win them over, by producing several miniseries (and subsequent BDMs - Serenity 2 & 3, etc.) starring our BDH.

Please don't forget to promote the hell out of it.
Have our BDH appear on Conan, The Tonight Show, etc. Do tie-ins with other Universal produced TV shows and the like. Just like the captain says - easy, peasy!

[so - why not Serenity II?
Whitenoise II is a SEQUEL after all to a film that did not break box office records,
has little critical reputation and no cult following
(certainly not on the scale of serenity). ]

Shiny! Let's be bad guys!
