Working on it. Been piecing together for a few weeks now and luckily I have the hookup on the coat and vest required.

Our Case Manager is doing a prevention activity with the kids and she asks, "What is one thing you do while in the shelter that helps keep you from smoking?" After a long pause on of our boys chimes in with "Masturbate."

Gawd I love teenagers.

Hola folkses!!!

FLT- I just wish women would accept it more. (Especially for themselves) Accept it, utelize it, share. Trust me, sharing that is very good for a woman and her partner.

FMF- Test of balls: Standing up to a very close friend in their drunken state throughout the majority of your day off. It is a test of balls whether or not to F#^* their brains out with the full knowledge you are capable. Dangly bits aside I still see you as having more nutz than most deserve despite their capability. Carry on fellow Browncoat!

'Neko- Hit me up. It has been a hell of a time and I'd love to let you know the that it gets better due to some small bits from you.

Okay, I'm a bit drunk. Headed to bed soon.

Love for all of you on this fine Independence Day.

Reconciled an old friendship this weekend, chilled out all of Saturday, and found out that my sister (the one with previous troubles) is pregnant.

NVG you live that soap-opera life! And let us know of any more teenage responses if they're as funny as that one ^^

Had a friend and her spawn over last night, wound up setting the youngest up on the xbox, one of the free demo racing games. He stopped because he saw a red light somewhere on the screen, and then refused to move until it changed!

'That torpedo hit us hard. We've got serious damage to the thrusters, heat warping in the secondary camshaft and the right side emergency jets completely knackered. We can't thrust, our shafts bent, and we'll probably never shoot off from the right hand again!'

Let me jump into previous discussion for a bit of a general moan at life. I think that too many of today's 'yoof' confuse balls and freedom of expression with rudeness. Just passed a group of teenagers swearing their heads off in really loud voices and spitting onto the path. I asked them politely to tone it down and got shouted at that they could do whatever they wanted and if I didn't like it I could ... 'get lost'!

I've often heard them congratulate each other for being really nasty by saying that 'that took real balls'. It doesn't. It just takes a lack of consideration for other people's feelings. Something that seems to be all too common.

There, I'm done. Now how old do I feel?!

This reminds me of the scrubs episode where Turk tells J.D.'s brother that Carla is pregnant and he's all "oooohhhh that sucks dude" and Turk is all "no we were trying to get pregnant" then it's "Oh congratulations!".

Mainly cause my initial reaction to NVG's thing was "oooohhhh that sucks dude". Unless of course she wanted to get pregnant that is.

Odds! That was pretty much my weekend aside from the shoot we went to yesterday. Fricken wierd and taxing but then again it has been considerable time since it's happened so lets hope the soap opera bank is paid up.

Sorry to offend FLT. Brain all wonky works and such.

So yeah, my sister is pregnant again. I did kinda have that Scrubs exchange before finding out if she was happy about it or not. Fell kinda like an ass but the emotionally trying day before seemed to have knocked something loose into the works.

Has anyone here ever been accused of knocking someone up? I know it is a strange question to ask with the above news I recieved but it has humorously happened to me recently (NOT MY SISTER, DERR) and I don't know how to take it other than to laugh heartily in the face of my accuser. Of course she was drunk off her ass but what else are friends in crisis for?

Yeah, awkward but funny.

After lots of drunk talk from my "rescued" friend (of which we've endured a long friendship but a short relationship) I had heard it over and over. Finally it came to a head when she'd sobered enough to understand my retort (for which I did not offer one before since she was so out of it).

HER: "Don't you get it. I'm three months pregnant and it's yours. Aren't you man enough to accept that? Isn't that what you wanted? Didn't you say that you wanted to have children?"

ME: "Of course I did. (Smiling) And at one time I wanted to have kids with you."

HER: "So what's the problem?"

ME: "For one I'm in a very good relationship now and really don't want to f&^% it up..."

HER: (Cuts me off)"You selfish Paiute bastard!"

ME: "... Two, is that what I really want to put up with for the rest of my life, no."

HER: "F&^% you. I thought you cared. Now I 'll have to do it all by myself. Me and your child alone and without you. I thought you were the best man on the planet. How could you do that to us?"

ME: (Chuckling) "Probably because Three, unless you gestate like an Elephant or I'm a fricken sniper with my seed that ain't my kid. Seems the last time we were together was October." (Counts in my head) "So yeah, 'our' kid should be sitting her right now. I'm sorry this didn't work out the way you wanted but I'll give ya an eight for creativity."

HER: "You're a son of a bitch."

This didn't end the conversation or the day. And of course I didn't want to pull off the ultra cool "I know. I'm a son of a bitch. But I'm not a f&^%$#@ son of a bitch." line because that one needs to be saved for when it really counts.

Laughing and waving since Friday afternoon FLT. Of course I am sad because my friend needs help that I can neither offer nor follow through with. But the look on her face...

...priceless.

He's on about his friend let's just call her Miss M called him at 7 am on the 4th of July because she was totally impaired and needed him to rescue her and he did...spending hours and hours of his only day off cleaning her up and talking her down and just being a fantastic friend ( and he does this because he is truly the most wonderful man in the known universe)

BTW he just made me sit on the couch and sip a glass of wine while he cooked dinner, clean the whole kitchen, and dealt with other chores... ( trying not to rub in that I m the luckiest woman alive)

Sigh. I'm depressed.

Could you bear with me whilst I put my slightly whingey problem in front of the mighty power of the imponderable team? Maybe you could give me some advice?

My problem is that I have been working at this college for 18 months now and am still feeling very ostracized and friendless. The three people I like most are leaving which makes me sad. The three women in my office ofen make me feel unwelcome in lots of little ways that I don't even think they're aware of. Things like; going for a coffee break and asking the other two if they want to come but not me, all heading out the office at the same time without waiting for me when we are supposed to be going to the same place, never inviting me to sit with them at lunch. You know, little school yard snubs. They're not rude or impolite, they just never make any effort to include me in conversations and such. I did try at first to insinuate myself into their group but I am getting fed up of the effort all being one sided.

Isn't it silly how this kind of stuff ends up getting you down when there are so many other stresses that I have dealt with this year.

Anyway, has anyone else been in this sort of situation and what would you suggest I do?

Actually em I'd say it's relationships with co workers that make your job worth it. I once worked somewhere like that and it sucked big time. HUGS I am really sorry about that.

OK so apart from the people leaving, is there anyone else there you might like? I'd scan and scout out not other teachers, but secretaries, assistants, ect. If you would like to develop a friendship with the other women, try inviting them out to coffee yourself. Maybe they think you aren't interested in being friends or maybe the just haven't noticed they've got a little clique. I had that at my last school and when I asked them all to do a potluck lunch with me it turned out they just thought I was super busy and that's why they hadn't asked me to join them...

I really hope you can find some friends because otherwise it makes your job so much harder...

First off, (points at MSB) you better be laying down doing very little woman.

Next, I tend to be that person more often than not Ems. SUcks being the boss because the fun stuff is kinda set aside for what is proper. Not that I was overly social to begin with, but being included in the group is a basic human social need. If there is any way to be accepted I think humor is the best. And if there is any way to tell the group to piss off humor works well too. Just know you can drop in anytime and feel welcome with all of us.

Sorry folks, thinking kind of fragmented. doing some new forms and such trying to keep my attention. Difficult.

Been there. It's amazing how apparently grown people can revert to being fourteen again in an office. I just did my own thing, and found friends in other departments. I hate to say it, but I'm more cynical than MsB - after 18 months, they are doing it on purpose. They need lives.

(In my case, though, I worked in an office with folk whose highlight of the week was a soap episode, and who considered McD's a fine dining experience. Add in a fascination with boy bands/R'n'Bollox and you can see why we might not have gelled. I took in some sushi for lunch one day - you'd have thought I was eating a rat sandwich.)

Yes I totally think she should try to find other and better friends, but it might not hurt to make a friendly overture to the other girls...maybe they'll get to know her and see how awesome she is or she'll get to know them and realize they suck balls and she doesn't want to hang out with them

*Sniff* Thanks guys, you're all so sweet to me!

I feel ever so silly for getting upset over this stuff. It does sound so very teenagerish (why won't they play with me?!)

Normally I'm fine making an effort to insinuate myself into their conversations when I have the energy and then ignoring them and getting on with work when I get fed up of being left out.

It just got to me badly today. I had been quite happy telling myself that they weren't doing it on purpose, they've just been friends for years both in and out of work. See, I like to think the best of people as well.
Today though, I found out that one of them is looking for a tennant for a room in her flat. I found this out by seeing the advert she had placed on the website I have been searching every day for the past 2 weeks. I've been giving a running commentary on my search for a flat. You'd think she would have mentioned something. Now don't get me wrong, I couldn't stand living with the woman (she is the most actively unpleasant of the three) but not telling me just seems quite underhanded. I gathered the courage to ask her if that was her house and didn't she think it was worth mentioning and she said that she couldn't live with someone she was working with and not to take it personally. I agreed that would be a bad idea but still feel that it would have been good to be open and honest about it.

What do you think? Am I over reacting?

Really sorry for the long rant, by the way!

Kitchen great, and all finished except for painting the pantry doors. We'll have to take them out to the garage to do, because...we have a new kitteh in teh hause!!

She's a seven year old blue tortie/tabbie Maine Coon. Which means that she is big and fluffy and very beautiful. She's also been a breeding show cat up til now, so she's not used to being a house pet. But she's learning. I spent most of yesterday coaxing her out from under the cooker, and most of today getting her off the dining room table/ whatever I was reading!

And, yeah, I'm making a stinkingly hot prawn pathia for my tea tonight.
