Modern day comic books
Mine are:

-Angel

-Star Trek year 4

-Army of Darkness/Xena(lots of fun)

-Strangers in Paradise(I collect the TPB's so I can read a bunch at a time)

-Conan

Marvel: Spidey, and Astonishing X-Men

I'm also a big DC fan, but haven't been getting Detectice Comics, or Superman for a while now. I should get back into those.

I forgot to mention The Walking Dead. I've been getting the trades for those as I like to read 8 issues at a time. It started out dark, and just keeps getting darker. Very cool, and creepy.

The Lone Ranger (The new ones Dynamite does)

Kingdom Come (BEST GN EVER)

Amazing X-Men (Second best GN ever)

Serenity Better Days (more polished and cannon than TLB, imo)

Ultimate Spiderman (Socially awkward teen who read them through highschool, connecting with Parker's socially awkward nerdiness)

300 (Frank Miller is da man)

Pride of Bagdad (Tragic and moving)

Your Indian Pirate Lord,
Ash

Unless there's a Serenity comic out, I hit the store once a month... when Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic comes out.

It is, in my opinion, the best of the Star Wars titles, and if you read the dialogue, it's quite possible that Miller (the writer) is a Firefly fan. At the very least, he seems to be a fan of Whedon-style characterization and continuity.

KENOBIUS

While I normally don't read comics, a friend recommended that I read The Long Halloween. It's a Batman TPB, and one of the bigger sources of inspiration for The Dark Knight. As a non-comic fan, I'm really digging it. If you are a Batman fan and haven't read it, I sugguest it.

And of course I have Those Left Behind. Got Better Days on pre-order. (I like to wait until the TPB)

Oh yeah, and I have some of 88MPH's Ghostbusters run (Still missing an issue) and a chunk of the early Stargate SG-1/Atlantis comics back when I thought I'd collect them. Sadly, those comics never really held me - but the Ghostbusters story was cool.

SHINYGOODGUY

When I was a kid of 10-12 it was DC Comics with Batman, Superman and Flash.

Later, as a teen, it became Marvel with Spidey, X-Men, Thor and Daredevil.

Now, of course, its Serenity.

Shiny! Let's be bad guys!

COSMICFUGITIVE

As a teenager, I flitted back and forth between 2000AD and Marvel.

2000AD:
Psi Judge Cassandra Anderson was (and still is) my favourite character. Although, I also loved Strontium Dogs, Dredd, Nikolai Dante and Durham Red.

Marvel:
Death's Head II and Tuck. Mostly the classics: Spiderman, The X-Men and the lesser appreciated 'X-Force.'

There was a Marvel UK comic book series from '92, called 'Digitek', which rocked in my books. It was beautifully rendered, and the story was edgy and mature.

Nice to see a fellow fan of The Sandman. Never noticed your avatar till now.

I don't read comics per se, as in the monthy versions, I tend to get the collected editions in a graphic novel.

So for me The Sandman and Death novels would be top.
Dark Knight Returns and V for Vendetta would be next, followed by anything else that is Batman related.
I also have the Buffy and some of the Angel collections. Not got around to looking for the new season versions yet.

Don't really get much these days, barring Serenity related output.

There was a time (the 90's) when I gave up on collecting comics. Currently though, there are so many good titles, and series from different publishers. It's like a new order of the classic(gold, silver, bronze age) comic book days.

BORIS

Back in the 70's and early eighties, I used to read Ghost Rider,ThunderBolt and Lightfoot, the Archie comics, Spookie, Caspar and Wendy, Westerns, and Italian Disney comics. Then I got older and became obsessed with Tolkien and other stuff and forgot about comics. Lately I've been lured back to comic stores because of Serenity, Frey, Buffy, and Astonishing x-men and have discovered a whole new wonderful world...I'm going through re-education at the hands of some acutely knowledgeable young guys who are keen to get me on track with modern offerings such as Neil Gaiman etc. also am trying to remember the name of the talented Indian comic Author I met in Delhi 2006...any help with that one would be appreciated...he wrote a pretty funny comic about life in Calcutta, and was in the process of writing something darker...I lost his details.

THESOMNAMBULIST

Personally I'm not a huge fan of the comic book genre, at least not the conventional comics. Always loved Asterix the Gual though :D Don't know wether you'd call those comics or not, but I love those. A friend bought me the SERENITY comic which was a fun read but the artwork was a touch hit and miss.
