Anyone else notice that the cover art is not from the Whedon/Cassaday run but rather the artist that took over after starting with issue #25.

This was my favorite comic when Joss was on it, but it has gone downhill since he left. The art isn't that good and often hard to follow, much like the convoluted story line. I won't go into it much, but it's just way to complicated for the sake of being complicated.

I haven't read the non-Whedon/Cassidy issues, but the novel as a whole with them at the helm is my favorite X-Men arc of all time.

So is this everything?

Forgive me cos its been a while since I picked a comic

If I order this will this be all the chapters start to finish or will I have to order more books to complete the series?

I like how they call them grahic novels and not comic books. I guess us old timers are to mature to buy anything called comic.

traveler, I know it may make little sense, but I call the individuals comics, and the trade paperback/hardcover a graphic novel. Though that's just to distinguish between them.

Dunno why other people use it. To get away from the negative connotations of the word 'comic' in 'cool circles'?

I'm 57 years old and the X-MEN are my favorite.

Marvel just has so many different series about the X-MEN that it is hard to keep up with a story line because they cross over. I am into X-MEN LAGACY right now. I swear that half the Marvel comics on the shelf are about X-MEN. And that is a lot of comics.

The clerk at the store intoduced me to a new one called DARK X-MEN. So I am reading that now.

You may call it a guilty pleasure. I was intrigued by the public fear of the X-MEN, which I feel would be more realistic then the adoration that Superman gets.

I haven't read much X-Men outside Whedons stuff, I generally don't read the ongoing series', as it's just too much of a commitment that I can't really afford. Plus I'm not as into some of the superhero series' as I am of some of the other stuff.

Things I recommend: Identity Crisis (Brad Meltzer, with foreword by Joss Whedon!), Kingdom Come, Ex Machina (Brian K.Vaughan), Joker (Brian Azzarello), Y: The Last Man (Brian K. Vaughan).

I also quite like the Runaways too, although I couldn't really tell you why. I started reading simply so I'd understand Joss' arc, but now I'm just loving it. Brian K. Vaughan is excellent.

Just wanted to add that, Superman, when well written, can be an excellent character. I just haven't read many comics that take advantage of him. Anyone got any?

Never read any Superman. Just know him from the ancient TV series. The only DC comic I've read is a special two part series with Batman. I guess that would be called a graphic novel.
