Likes to mess with stuffs.

Well, Michael Ausiello over at EW is reporting that Sara Connor will most likely be terminated.

"It's done," maintains a source close to the show. "Everyone has pretty much known for a couple of weeks." Adds a network insider: "Consider it canceled."

May 18th is set as the official announcement date for FOX's fall schedule. Dollhouse's fate will be determined by then as well--if not sooner.

Don't believe it until you see it. That guy isn't always right altough he does have good source info. Fox may drop it but soeone else might pick it up, like Sci Fi.

According to an interview with Brian Austin Green, done after the season finale, no one knows what is happening, not even the creator. Well, at least he's not telling. Green is contracted for a third season as are all the main actors. He did a pilot as a backup plan but his contract for the new TV show is only a go if TSCC is cancelled. He knew when he was killed off that he was coming back for the last episode. The creator told them all his plans for season three and they are all very excited and hope Fox doesn't cancel them. Here's the link for his interview.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

There are comments to his article by at least two people that say that decision is not final. One is from someone who read a Twitter feed by one of the show's writers and another who has a friend just hired as a production assistant.

I won't be surprised if the news is correct, but I am not spreading the news about cancellation until I hear it directly from FOX at the up-fronts next month.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Wow. Surprise. A sci fi show, on Fox, on Friday nights getting cancelled. So hard to believe.

Guess the execs (read CHIMPS) over at the hated Fox just never learn.

Well, the ratings were already nosediving before they moved it to Friday.

Honestly I think their actions are completely justified. The show has not been getting good ratings. The plot can be summed up as "stall because we have no place to go". They were handcuffed by the concept to begin with. They have 3 main characters who pretty much can't die or it will kill the series. They have killing machines that have turned into the bumbling droid army from star wars because they can't let them actually kill the connors. They can't really stop sky net because the movie franchise relies on it. They are left with "wave your arms...maybe do some interpretive dance but just don't make the show go anywhere".

If I was an exec I wouldn't have given it this long before I axed it. The only thing that I might look at as a wild card is the success of T4. If does crazy well at the box office I might want to try to piggy back on that success with TSCC. I'm just not sure if they have the time to wait for the box office results.

I guess the network wonks didn't see Summer unbutton her shirt in the finale.

I guess they also didn't see her remove her black bra and lay down on the bed.

I guess they didn't hear her ask John to get on top of her.

I guess they didn't hear her say to John to put his hand inside of her.

Well I surely didn't miss all that, and I didn't hallucinate it either. It really happened, and I'll never be quite the same because of it.

I'm sure the network saw all of that.

The problem is - very, very few people besides them did. Because no one watched the show.

Meh, Zeek, you and I have argued about this before, but I have to say again that I couldn't disagree with you more.

First off, TSCC very specifically isn't tied to T3 or T4 -- it picks up after T2 and goes a totally different direction. They are in no way trying to keep the fiction consistant with the movies, so no worries about not being able to take out SkyNet, etc. The arc at the end of this season pretty much proves that they aren't worried about what anyone else is doing with the other half of the license. So they aren't handcuffed by the concept, and in fact are able to explore lots of very interesting areas that the movies never could.

And because they aren't tied to the movie canon, they actually could kill any of the main characters that they want. Cameron (Summer Glau) could be killed quite easily, and they've hinted at it multiple times, though honestly I think that would be very bad for ratings. It would be odd to kill Sarah since the show is named for her, but it could continue on without her. And John is by no means safe, especially because it's called "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" not "The John Connor Chronicles", and because they don't need to keep in line with the movie plots. It would remove a lot of the motivation for Sarah, but not all of it -- without John to save humanity, it then becomes that much more important to make sure Judgement Day never happens. And other than those three, they actually have killed several "main" characters -- three in just the last few weeks.

As far as the terminators themselves, they haven't had that many head-ons with terminators, and they do have their own terminator, and years of experience in fighting the machines. And you could argue the same thing about the movies -- of course you know that Sarah and John won't be killed by the terminators. Doesn't mean it isn't interesting and exciting.

The show has actually gone to some very intersting places IMO, especially in the second half of season 2. They're able to explore ideas about the Connor myth that the movies can't, because of the format. While I hated the character of Riley, as a plot device it was very very interesting. And the arc of the last four or five weeks was unbelievable -- straight up, no questions asked, the very best television I've ever seen, and I'm including Firefly in that.

I know that you've had objections in the past to their "let's jiggle the hardware and it'll fix the software" hand waving, but to some extent computer depictions in tv and movies are always wonky. But besides that, they've done some really amazing things when it comes to the depiction of robotics and AI. You know that I've worked on DARPA-funded emotional AI, brand new stuff that hasn't been seen anywhere. TSCC is the only thing I've ever seen -- show, movie, comic, game, novel, etc -- that actually gets what that could evolve into. The stuff they address in the show when it comes to AI rocks my socks, and my love for it is only surpassed by my love of what they've done with the Connor myth.

So I for one love the show, and can't get on board with any of the arguments against it (except that it doesn't have high enough ratings, not much I can do about that). After the season finale last week, I'm about 100 times more excited for the season premier next fall than I am for Terminator 4. Sure, I'll see T4 in the theater, but it'll pale in comparison with what TSCC set up in the last few episodes. I love that show so much. I really hope it doesn't get cancelled.

you mean when it was on Monday, Opposite Chuck, (which i know isn't doing super fantastically well in it's own ratings, but they have similar fanbases)

and Dancing with the Stars, which i know lots of folks actually like( i don't get it)

and 2 30 min sitcoms on cbs , Big bang theory, and How i met your Mother.

so even if you are JUST going with ex-whedon actor's shows, you have 3 shows, on different networks at the same time.
(Adam Baldwin on Chuck, Ally Hannigan on how i met yo momma, and Summer on T:SCC)
It makes it hard for a fan.
esp if you are one of us too financially challenged to have a DVR. (unfortunately timeshifting via VHS doesn't figure into ratings)

and friday @8p, has been called the Death Slot for a reason...

DREAMTROVE

I think we all knew this since the actors were seeking work elsewhere. Ah well. Such is television. The better the content, the worse it does. Firefly should consider itself honored.

Not that Guiding light lasted 72 years on MSM broadcast. Note also that broadcast itself didn't last much longer than that.

Yep that's clearly the case. So, I won't try to argue plot points. Clearly we just see the show through different eyes.

However, I disagree that they're free to do what they want. I seem to remember interviews back in season 1 where they said they had to clear things with the Salvation staff. There was something like not being able to show John in the future because he's supposed to look like Christian Bale in the future. So, there are some handcuffs. And like you said they can kill Cameron but they'll lose viewers so in reality they can't. If the movie franchise has the final say on what they can or can't do then I'm pretty sure they could never really avoid judgment day.

I think that's enough to handcuff them with some serious plot constraints. Even the greatest writers can only spin their wheels for so long before a show needs to just end.

There is always going to be competition, no matter the slot. If it can hold up to the competition, it dies. That's how it is.

There's some false hope for the fans. OK maybe it's real hope, but I believe the show's dead as a doornail. (doornails are very dead as far as I understand them)
