Serenity/Firefly is down on the list, perhaps appropriately considering the question. If you're interested, here's the link: http://www.imdb.com/poll

Here is the question:
From this list of "Franchises J.J. Abrams Should Reboot," which one would you most like to see get the Abrams treatment?

Here are the answers:
Serenity/"Firefly"
Back to the Future
Speed
"Wonder Woman"
True Lies
Superman
Star Wars
I'm not one to support franchise rebooting.

And here's the current tally:

I'm not one to support franchise rebooting.
1762 (35.6%)
Superman
753 (15.2%)
Back to the Future
629 (12.7%)
Serenity/"Firefly"
596 (12.1%)
"Wonder Woman"
465 (9.4%)
Star Wars
335 (6.8%)
Speed
226 (4.6%)
True Lies
178 (3.6%)

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I don't want J.J. anywhere near Serenity.

The new Star Trek sucked.

I liked the new Star Trek, but I still wouldn't want to see a reboot of the 'verse. Sequels, prequels, etc, yes. Reboot, no.

I agree with you on the first point only, EC, but here's my rationale for even posting the poll: no one from a studio is really going to follow the wishes of an IMDb poll, but it can't hurt to show publically yet again that there's still interest in Firefly/Serenity. I wouldn't want J.J. Abrams to mess up Serenity, but I also don't like seeing the 'verse come in behind Back to the Future or Superman in a poll... =\

Oh well, vote or don't as you see fit though! You're right though, Serenity didn't die slowly like Star Trek did--it was killed prematurely. Maybe revisited is a better word for what we want than rebooted?

There are only two persons I would trust with a revival of Firefly. Either Joss or Tim Minear. Everyone else, keep your gorram hands off Firefly!

While I agree re: who should do FIREFLY, on some level, this poll will be used as a popularity contest, so it never hurts to vote for Firefly/Serenity.

Thanks Gwek, that's what I was trying to say but you expressed it much more clearly. :) That's how I view most polls anyway... (I'm more of a cynic than I let on)

Are you sure it would be used to test Serenity/Firefly popularity? Not JJ's? I agree with the person that said no REBOOT, only revisiting. I have been a fan of Star Trek since I was about 5 years old watching re-runs of the original on tv. But I am glad to see the treatment Star Trek was given in the new film. It doesn't seem to violate any of Gene Roddenberry's vision and may actually allow more of his original vision to come thru. But Firefly - NO. It's not 40 years old and hasn't been strangled by censors. The only way I want anyone doing Firefly or Serenity except Joss is if Joss publicly proclaimed his support for the person and why he thought it was a good idea.

I haven't seen the new trek yet but I agree, Abrams can leave Firefly alone.

I'm on the fence as to the actual question - I'm definitely so-so pn Abrams stuff - thought Alias was Boring, Cloverfield Annoying (note the caps on those, it's on purpose), but I love Lost and Fringe.

I'm hoping to see Star Trek tomorrow.

I ONLY voted to show that, no matter who has something to do with, I love Firefly enough to at least VOTE, even if I'm only partially agreeing with the question. I know damn well they're not ACTUALLY going to give JJ Abrams a movie deal based on that little poll, but if they see people voting for something, it has to at least show we're interested.

If they got off their asses and did a plan ole' google search, they'd see Firefly is alive and well, and in certain points of view, eaily going into it's 8th or 9th season online! (including all the play by post and what not versions of the Verse that are still going strong out there! My spin-off Oberon is in it's 4th year - almost fifth!) Firefly lives, would be nice if Fox would release the strange hold and give us a little something.... (something FIREFLY - I'm already thanking them for Dollhouse).

I agree. JJ abrahams no touchee please....I'm sure his version would have a huge audience, but am afraid he would suck most of the life out of what we love about Firefly and pimp what's left to the max for sensationalsit effect. I used to love Lost but now I can't stand how badly it has been mutated. I can't even stand the characters I used to like. I Would hate to have that happen to the shiny crew of Serenity. Just the thought of ever hating Jayne makes me weep. I wouldn't mind if he produced a Joss & Co written and directed version as long as he let them do what they want with it.

Agree - 100%

Abrams clout as producer would definitely kick-start our beloved Serenity. BDM2 and 3, which could very well lead back to a Firefly stint on Sci-Fi (for Fox to get their hands back on this franchise they would have to keep their hands to themselves - no interference, on any level).

This could happen since JJ had Fringe renewed and it seems that Fox has allowed him creative breathing room (WTF? is Joss chopped liver?). Anyway, that would be a good, but unlikely, move.

No Reboot - keep FF in Joss's hands.
