I have a copy of the series on DVD.
I also have the collector's edition DVD of the movie.
Fair enough.

I've loaned out all Firefly AND the movie to one friend, as he likes sci-fi and has been meaning to check it out.

Though we speak on Facebook, I only see this friend in person once every month or two.

I

Am

in SEVERE WITHDRAWAL!!!!

I'm thinking of buying a second set (series & movie) so that I'll always have one copy to keep and one to lend. It's only financial limitations that have stopped me from doing it already.

Is this unusual behaviour?

Definitely not. I have two copies of the regular dvds + the Blu-Ray set, and I have all three versions of the BDM too. I've not only loaned those out, I have also given away at least 10 copies of the series so far.

No worries you are right to feel this way. Although lending our Firefly and Serenity DVDs is necessary, you must also have a set on hand to watch as needed/desired.

*pats on the back* You're ok. You just need more sets.

Excessive? What?

Being generous by giving your friends copies of Firefly is hardly excessive, unless you handcuff them to your private theater seats wearing Firefly tee shirts, drinking out of cast character mugs with sandwiches out of a Firefly lunchbox.

Happy to share the best you have is a wonderful thing. What else can I say?

I loaned a copy of Firefly to my brother who doesn't much like sci fi and he was having a hard time getting it back to me because it became his favorite show of all time, so I bought myself a second copy from Amazon for cheap. Mike did return the first copy eventually.

Not excessive at all, me, I have 3 copies of Firefly, 2 copies of serenity collectors addition, and 2 of serenity widescreen, I loan the discs out one by one, soo, at any given time (still holding a copy back for me) I in theory could be converting 10 folks.

By comparison, you are well within the normal/ sane range.

and thats not counting the "extra copies" I have socked away in case i need a christmas or birthay present (target's sales when its under $20 are hard to resist).

Feel more normal now?

Maybe I will buy more when my finacial situation gets better. Making a gift bag of sci fi DVDs sounds like a really great present for my friends.

I have got the series on DVD, and I'm getting blu ray soon. I have the UK edition of Serenity normal DVD, the US collector's edition, the UK blu ray, and I'm looking into getting the US normal DVD imported for the different cover.

Never lend out what you don't already have a second copy of when it comes to Firefly/Serenity stuff.
Just sayin'.
