I posted some new pics from Bob's experience as an extra. These include costumes and bits and pieces of the set, so if you are very spoiler shy, then don't look. (I personally don't consider them spoilers):

Hey, saw your little note to ME and Universal. I hope they invite you to the set. If you think it'll help, I'll send a note to CB and ask. Perhaps my work with FFF.NET might add further weight to the request. Would be kinda cool for a webmaster to go.

Haken,

Thanks. Maybe he'll find it in his heart to invite both of us. :) After all you've put in even more effort than I have.

That'll be cool. Unfortunately, due numerous personal and professional reasons, I'm not able to travel anywhere for a few years. So if it's in my power to at least help someone else, it'll make my day.

Well, keep your fingers crossed. I forwarded your posted request to CB along with a few words from me. Not that I carry much weight, but at least they should be aware of your request now. Good luck.

i'm a massive fan and can't wait til the movie but does anyone else think the sets look...well, fake. It looks like a cardboard dr who set. I'm sorry i really hate to be negative and there will probably be many more sets which look amazing. This probably isn't a real view of the actual set but pieces of a set. But to me those sets look typically TV budget. So wheres the money going? It took 10 million to make the Feature Length Pilot which was amazing so i just hope the fact that this is costing an extra 30 million that we can notice a difference. I'm just nitpicking of course. Firefly is undoubtly one of the best tv shows out there. I did get tired of the same piece of desert. Me and my friend would refer to it as the 'restless' spot after it was introduced in the buffy episode restless. Joss used this piece of land regularly in buffy and firefly and it always looks like the same landscape. I was hoping for the movie to look a little differently. heres hoping. Very cool pictures though. Wish i could help people to get on set.

Keep in mind that what you see is not what you get on the big screen. That set might only appear for a moment, or from farther away. It might be touched up later with computer effects; the lighting and angle during the shoot is another thing that makes a set look real on camera. I wouldn't take much stock in what you see in the photo.

I agree they look a little fake, but you'd be surprised how cheap sets often look in real life. Just wait till you see them in the final movie, after color enhancement/correction, and in context. I doubt they'll look cheap and fake at all.

I'm new, but I've been lurking for a while. One problem with it is that the sun is shining from right to left and the Cardboard tower is shaded darker on the right side. The picture is shot with a a disposable camera which has a deep depth of field. More expensive movie cameras with certain lenses have shallower depth of field which blurs the background.

You gotta remember, sets are generally built for very specific functions, thus randomly taking picture son them(when its a temporary set, not like the firefly ship) is like to come out odd.

I have no doubt it will look perfectly fine in the real shots. Honestly though, I didn't even notice the issues till it was pointed out.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I would not worry too much about the look of the set as it appears in the pics. The beauty of Hollywood magic is that it can make any set look realistic. Keep in mind that the set is merely a backdrop for the characters. The main focus will be on the actors/actresses and the action itself, not the sets.

The pics look great by the way. Adam is so ruttin' cool! Wonder what that sign translates to.

aye, thats one of the reasons that they refer to the 'magic' of cinema. its not just a reference to the magic of watching the finished movie, but also to the trickery involved in making it.

Sounds like a browser hijacker worm (I had one a while back --they're easy to destroy once you know they're there, so no worries). You may want to find a virus scanner.

Uh, it says "Welcome to Lilac," and something that I assume is a population counter.
