Because those shows are proven winners in the ratings?

Because the writers can recycle plots and no one will be the wiser and there will be ten seasons of each?

Melrose and 90210 are probably somewhat cheaper to make?

First and foremost, I wouldn't trust anyone to remake or restart Firefly, given the current status of both the industry and the principle actors.

((shrug)) Sci-fi westerns aren't exactly new or unique to Firefly. Anyone ever see the 1995 Sci-Fi movie "White Dwarf"? Science fiction story revolving around a rural frontier, with guns and horses and everything.

I don't really hate FOX (as you can see I use their real name, not some expletive derived variation), that comment was meant for those who actually do still hold a grudge. I've watched quite a few shows on the network since Firefly, from Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive, up to current shows Bones and Fringe, and will be watching Glee tonight.

The thing I thought really strange about that report is the quote from the writer Scott Rosenbaum - "What I'm really interested in is the revamping of the Western genre where you still have all of the iconic Western themes and iconic Western tropes but the idea is that it will feel incredibly contemporary and will introduce the Western to a whole new generation." - as if he came up with this idea all by himself.

I saw that they remade 90210 and nearly shot through the two floors above me and the roof. wtf batman? let's bring back old shows that have had their time, and NOT bring back one that was never finished. @_@ makes total sense.

I've seen all but two episodes of Buffy, but I'll say this -- why the EFF would you remake a show without including the original creator?
