CYBERSNARK

Y'know, when some piece of technical jargon or schematics is handed to someone who isn't familiar with that specialty, there tends to be a fairly recognizable response.

They take it, glance at it in the vain hope that it's already been translated into dummy-speak, then a slightly dismissive grunt as they hand it away.

In the beginning of "War Stories," when Book and Simon are having that Shan Yu discussion, Simon makes a point by handing Book a printout of River's brainscan (seems to look kinda like an x-ray, dolled up to show a spiderweb of neural passages). Simon quickly turns away, doing the whole absent-minded genius thing, but note the split-second of Book's reaction that we see (the camera follows Simon).

Book looks at the brain scan. Not a "yes, very nice" look, but an actual "ah, I see" look. He squints a few times, as if he's actually seeing (and making sense of) details. There's also a little brow-furrowing, as if he's trying to recall something that he knows, but is out-of-practice with.

Suddenly I'm thinking it's not just crime and weapons that our "Shepherd" knows a bit about. . .

We applied the cortical electrodes but were unable to get a neural reaction from either patient.

It appears our friend the "Shepherd" is more talented than we thought...
All of you working on theories about who "Book" really is, has "Cybersnark's" observation helped (or hindered) your theory?

MAL: "Well, look at this! Appears them boys at Fox have decided to cancel us. What does that make them?"
ZOE: "Big damn idiots, sir."
MAL: "Ain't they just."
