Very nearly a Jayne-ism.

Okay, so my mom was in town today, and we spent the afternoon apartment-hunting. The rent's getting a might high here, so I'm looking to downsize myself. All I really need is my own bunk. . .

Anyhoo, to save us trouble in the future, I've already started packing stuff up and sending it home (where it'll live until/unless I get a new place).

At one point, while going through my stuff, mom suggested taking home the stepladder, since I don't need it to reach anything.

I was tying my shoes at this point and didn't look up as I reflexively grunted "Kitchen light!" (Yeah, my kitchen has a high ceiling.)

Actually took me a second to figure out why it sounded so familiar (hint: Jayne, Mal, and Zoe's talk about River).

'Course my mom, being as disinterested in SF as she is in anything of my life, didn't get the joke, but I thought it was gorram funny.
