Okay, so i was thinking the other day about how Firefly lingo had effected some people's speech greatly and i was a little down because it hadn't changed mine much (except for Shiny which was an obvious one) and then i realized....

i say "over abundance" all the time now...

*fweaky* how that just snuck in there!

MAL: This is my scrap of nowhere. You go on and find your own.
SAFFRON: You can't just leave me here, on this
lifeless piece of crap moon...
MAL: Sure I can.
SAFFRON: I'll die.
MAL: Well, as a courtesy, you might start
getting busy on that, cause all this chatter ain't doin' me any kindness.

Howdy, Howdy!

Long time no read. How ya been? My speechifyin' ain't changed a bit. Not a jot. Nope. I ain't changed, and I ain't a-gonna.

Is that the truth? Not so much, no.

"Kindness" I've started using too. I was conscious of that, though..... not so much on the "Shiny." Or with "Not so much," either, but I said "not so much" before I ever saw Firefly. So nyah nyah nyah.

I would like to advocate the use of "Pretty," as in when Jayne is tryin' pick him up some prostitutes, and Mal says something about Jayne getting some of the Pretty, or something. A line that should have recurred in a better episode.

Anyway. There's an over-abundance of good lines. That's all I'm sayin'.

I caught myself using "creepifying" in a post. Had myself a nice chuckle over that one.

I shaved off my beard for you, devil woman!

CAPNRAHN

"So much tasty in this room, my JohnThomas is about to pop off and fly around the room"

Sorry about the bad paraphrase - but that line had me on the floor ... just can't find an apropriate venue to use it - other than going to a house of ill-repute or to the Playboy Mansion!

"Remember, there is only ONE absolute - There ARE NO absolutes!!!"

You had me rolling on the floor with that one CapnRahn. I didn't quite pick up what Jayne said when I first saw Heart of Gold. It took me a couple of rewinds, but well worth it. That's our Jayne. And you're right, there's probably never going to be a good time to try that line out.

I cracked up at Wash's reaction (and Jayne's counter-reaction).

"Figures you'd be one to get the most poetical about your pecker."
*Jayne nods proudly*

ANNIK

I've suddenly noticed a plethora of "not so much" in public use, including on a Canadian commercial for something-or-other that completely escaped my mind once I heard the phrase.

And I recently was congratulated by a friend (online) for coining the word "creepifying", but I 'fessed up and admitted it to being a Whedon Word, along with one of my other faves, "corpsified".

I do find myself saying go-se from time to time, though.

Cheers,
Annik
