Well i'm new here, so hi everyone :)

The Firefly serie was aired here in Finland this years spring, i started watching from the middle (also they aired here the "never aired" episodes). When i watched the first episode (to me), i thought to myself "this is the best show i've ever seen". So offcourse i bought the DVD serie when i got the money, i'm currently watching it the 3rd time :) But i dont think the movie is going to be shown in the theaters here, so i want to know how long it usually takes there, to the DVD release to come out? I want to know how long i have to wait to be able to see it...

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

It's all up to the studio to decide. DVD releases vary from as little as four months after initial release (Hellboy) up to eight months or more (the first LotR film for instance). The average these days is about six months. In any case, Serenity should definitely be out on DVD in time for Christmas gift giving next year.

Save up from now until April, then buy an air ticket to North America, anywhere the cheapest flight will take you AND they are showing the BDM Serenity, and watch it with a bunch of fans like us. What a way to spend a weekend, eh?

Welcome aboard whispering.

How do film releases work in finland, do you get some 'hollywood' films released in cinemas after the US. If the films sucessful is there a chance it would get a release?

Thanks

All of the "big" hollywood films are shown in the cinemas here and some of the smaller ones too. Like 80-90% of the movies shown in the cinemas here are hollywood films. But even if it isnt shown in cinemas, they usually might end up getting released on DVD here. But pretty much every film that is shown in cinemas will get a DVD release.

Heres the current top-10 in finnish cinemas:
1. Spider-Man 2
2. The Day After Tomorrow
3. Around The World In 80 Days
4. Ladykillers
5. Troy
6. Kill Bill: Vol 2
7. Mindhunters
8. Hellboy
9. Secret Window
10. Lost In Translation
I would have made a straight link, but some of the names are translated to finnish, so it would have been harder to prove my point ;)

The reason why i dont think Serenity is going to be in cinemas, is because the serie didnt make that big impact here. So if there isnt going to be a huge advertising campaign for the movie, i dont think its going to be shown in the theaters here. But if its a "standalone" movie (So that you dont have to see the serie, to see the movie), its more likely to be in the cinemas here. I'm hoping for the best :)

I'm in Canada. No you don't ;-)

One of my travel dreams is to catch Rally of the 1000 Lakes!

As another poster said, you could fly to NorthAm. Maybe Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, would be closest and watch Serenity. I know there are Browncoats in Nova Scotia. And they like to party!

Looking at the list of movies in the top ten I think you've got reason to be hopeful that the film will get a release.

Im pretty sure the film will be promoted as a 'standalone' film as universal wanted the film to be called Serenity to avoid to many comparisons with the series.
