I doubt anyone here has seen "The Prarie Home Companion Movie" but me an' Hubby. I cried like a baby and I don't do that. Hubby liked it and he's into macho movies. Hilarious,sad, poetic and quirky. I highly reccomend it.

Oh, and "Where The Red Fern Grows" always did get me....

I'm shocked! That brings the total number of people I know that have ever heard of PHC to ...two now? Of the ones already posted I'd agree with:

Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan - Is there a greater scifi death scene/funeral?
Pan's Labyrinth - So sad but so hopeful depending on your pov.
Up - It shows the greatness of Pixar films that they can get to you so early in a film.
Powder - Fantastic, very underrated film. Very moving.

I'll add:

E.T. - On my first viewing.
Switched At Birth - One of those true story movies. Got me when the Dad had to tell his daughter that she wasn't his daughter.
The Green Mile - Gets me every single time.

Oh, snap - I forgot "To Sir, With Love". I *LOVE* that movie!

You should really check out "Goodbye, Mr. Chips", too. Either the 1939 Robert Donat version or the later Peter O'Toole version - they're both fantastic. I prefer the later one myself, though.

And yes on Gump.

And Chris, I didn't hate Steel Magnolias. It's a chick-flick, sure, but I didn't hate it, and I expected to.

Going Places (French, 1974) I will not ever forget this film. Funny, erotic, irreverant and classic all rolled into one. Gerard Depardieu and Jeanne Moreau. They don't make 'em like that anymore.
