So, of course the Shuttle program is ending soon. NASA has a poll up, where people can choose the last song to ever be played on a shuttle mission. The songs available to choose from are those that have been used on prior missions (so no Ballad of Serenity).

Currently in the lead is my pic, the original theme from Star Trek.

I implore my fellow browncoats to follow me in voting for this song - as the second choice, following (uncomfortably) close behind is a friggin' Rush song. Eh.

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

Since Obama is killing the Space Program he should pick it, of cource it'll take him awhile to pick it. Just like it took him awhile to respond to the oil spill

Well, poop. I'd love to hear it land to that music at the end of the Serenity movie. Foo. Feh. Drat.

Phoey.

The Ballad of Serenity is the only choice that would fit. This is no less than someone trying to take the sky from us. . .

I would've thought one of Bowie's early songs would fit rather well with the theme. Although since they aren't there I have to go with a Harrison song.

"I really am ruggedly handsome, aren't I?"

Considering they used it as a wake-up call on STS-130 back in February, and there's a big Browncoat contingent at NASA.

Huh, I didn't know they'd used it. That's cool. Nonetheless, it's not one of the options. Bummer.

I stand by my original choice. It's buoyant and hopeful and "off-on-another-adventure"-y as long as you leave out the bit about the buffer panel.

Actually, "You can't take the sky from me" would be utterly untrue in the present situation. The manned spaceflight effort is having their sky taken away bigtime. This would have broken my heart even if Firefly had never been.

"Serenity" movie theme might just be too hopeful.
"Storm's getting worse."
"We'll be through it soon enough."

Yeah, let the weinies have "Rocket Man."
