"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Yup, makes me feel fantastic, knowing that *I* get to see it, witness it, see what no other person on Earth ever got to see before this, to look further in time and distance than any generation before.

Go fuck yourself.
On this matter, make no mistake. I want you to go fuck yourself long and hard, as well as anyone who agrees with you. I got no use for you.

Friday, May 28, 2010 - 18:26 To President Obama:
Mr. President, you're a god damn, mother fucking liar.
Fuck you, you cock sucking community activist piece of shit.
... go fuck yourself, Mr. President.

I want.. OUT THERE, to GO see it, to explore it, to find the wonders it holds!

And I'd like to start with Gliese 581d

AFTER you've spent more than 20 years hunting for an alien signal, you think you'd be celebrating if you noticed a mysterious pulse suddenly rising up on your computer readouts. A regular pulse, amid the random clatter of the cosmos, suggests that someone very smart at the other end is sending a message.

But when Ragbir Bhathal, an astrophysicist at the University of Western Sydney, who teaches the only university-based course on SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) in Australia, detected the suspicious signal on a clear night last December, he knew better than to crack open the special bottle of champagne he has tucked away for the history-making occasion.

That signal came from the vicinity of Gliese 581 d/e - mind you.

So, we've hailed them...

TRAVELER

I often wonder if there are other universes expanding and stretching out toward ours that we can't see yet. So our known universe could be only a fraction of what is beyond our vision. And when I say fraction, I mean an extremely small fraction.

CYBERSNARK

It would have to be: when we talk about the universe, we mean the visible universe. The Big Bang was approximately 13.7 billion years ago (if it happened at all --the concensus is by no means unanimous), meaning that we can only see 13.7 billion light-years, because that's all the time light has had to reach us. If there's anything beyond that, we can't see it, 'cause it's just too far away.

We think. When you really start to study deep-space telescopy, you start to realize just how much uncertainty is in the system (even our method of judging distance [redshift] is based on a potentially unstable theoretical model).

We applied the cortical electrodes but were unable to get a neural reaction from either patient.
