Likes to mess with stuffs.

From Hollywood Reporter:

Quote:

With a minute of "Dancing" overrun, "Castle" (11.9 million, 3.0) rose 7% from last week and performed in the vicinity of new CBS shows "Hawaii
Five-O" (12 million, 3.5), down 3% from last week...

Castle is doing really well. If the trend continues, it'll likely beat "Hawaii Five-O" next week.

But if Chuck is highly rated for NBC, it may stick around.

NBC itself isn't getting great ratings, so we need to keep that in perspective.

I feel confident that we will see thirteen episodes of Chuck this year. After that it will depend on what else NBC has in the pipeline, but their prospects aren't looking too good right now, so you never know.

Ok, I’m throwing in the “hate” towel.

Really, I haven’t been in tune with “Chuck” since the start of season 3. My better half just bought “3” and we are due to watch it at any time…… still, (imo) Chuck was better when he was a nerd and whining for the attention of Sarah so that she would have to fall in L,O,V,E with the guy.

Come on! If writers should know anything by now it’s that romantic friction= viewers wanting to watch what happens next.

Sarah & Chuck’s confibulation ( < is that a word?) and their registered attraction to one another came way to soon. There should have been at least another season an a half before Chuck had any inclination that Sarah was even interested. I don’t know a lot but I do know that.

If there are any network writers that visit these forums then heed my warning “ Romantic Tease” is one of the best tools at your disposal. Understand and use it well grasshopper…….

“ Castle” needs to take a look at itself as well. Nathan Fillion; get with Joss and ya’ll work something out with ABC……

Just giving a heads up, BP

Those Chuck ratings never hold water. Even the Network knows the Chuck fanbase is tech savy, and much more likely to DVR the show to watch later. When those numbers are factored in later in the week, Chuck always has better ratings.

Castle's audience demo is actually older than Hawaii 5-0, so the DVR ratings bump will also favor 5-0's younger audience over Castle's.

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

I agree, look at NBC's Thursday night line up, no one watches it. It's the lowest rated crap on TV but they've got nothing to replace it with. Their Thursday night line up was the gold standard when it came to sit-coms, now it's where comedy went to die. It's nothing but SNL has-beens.

I disagree. The "Romantic Tease" is so cliched it is not that interesting after a couple of seasons. Granted, a lot of times when they get a couple together too soon it might spell doom for a series, but that's only when they write the characters wrong for that portion of the story arc.

Everyone, even General Beckman, knew Sarah was in love with Chuck long before Chuck did. I'm looking forward to them establishing a permanent relationship in spite of everything that could drive them apart.

But they don't weight DVR ratings as heavily, because they know people skip past the ads. And that's what ratings are really about - what they can charge for adspace.

It could be the most popular DVR'd show out there, but if they can't sell decent ad time, it's worth very little to them.

If any of that was true, Chuck would've been cancelled by now. You experts make these cancellation claims every year, and so far NBC hasn't struck. Yeah, it could happen, but as long as the demo is favorable and the overall ratings don't fall much, NBC doesn't exactly have anything better to replace it with.

Too bad Firefly wasn't treated the same way, but please mindlessly attack any network that actually gives an original series a chance, and actually considers DVR numbers. It's been proven in studies that those that skip commercials still know the products being advertised, so that argument is simplistic!

Lets go your way though, and networks should follow FOX's lead and cancel anything that isn't an instant hit! Then we can have nothing but reality crap 24/7! Next up: Wrestling with the Stars, the results show!

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

Jeez, defensive much?

I didn't say they didn't count at all. Nor did I say the show should be canceled. Unpucker for cryin' out loud.

It's true they don't have anything better to replace it with. Which is part of the reason it's limped along. Plus DVD sales, and some other ancillaries. Maybe some higher-up that just plain likes it.

Uh... did you forget your meds or something? I didn't attack anyone. Nor, once again, did I say networks pay NO attention. Those numbers just carry less weight. I'm sorry that you consider my mentioning this fairly well established concept akin to kicking your puppy.

Knowing the products exist is not the same as receiving the full effect of the marketing. If this were not the case, they wouldn't bother making commercials, and could just flash the company name on screen. And whether you like or agree with it has literally nothing to do with how the advertisers want their products to be advertised. And they're the ones who pay for the shows. You are taking one tiny fact and drawing fallacious conclusions from it, which is, as you say, simplistic.

And I said that.... where? Are you so mental you have to actually invent things to go apeshit over? I don't believe I ever even mentioned cancellation in the post that sent you into such a nutzoid fit.

I'll leave you to your breakdown. Buh bye.

NO, I'M TAKING FACTS FROM REAL STUDIES THAT YOU WISH TO IGNORE TO WIN YOUR ARGUMENT, BUT THE NETWORKS CLEARLY DON'T IGNORE. THE FACTS STAND, THAT THOSE DVR NUMBERS ARE FACTORED IN BY ALL NETWORKS, AND THE INITIAL NUMBERS QUOTED ARE ONLY THE INITIAL OVERNIGHTS!

I am not sweating the Chuck ratings. I mean it is not far off of the numbers for "The Event" which they have been pushing so hard. Chuck is a good lead in for the show.

Mornin browncoats!

I wanted to get this up quickly while it’ s fresh in the ‘ol brainpan. I don’t assume to agree with everybody here….therefore I should understand that maybe they’ll find my opinions way out of whack!

I can only express my opinion….therefore I must humbly disagree with you ECGroron (and Chris, I assume that Chrisisall is of the same mind structure as EC. I haven’t read all the posts).

“ Cheers” lasted for years with Ted Danson and Shelley Long ready to cut one another’s throats…. (smile). Joss knew this ( the tease factor) and presented it with Mal and Inara.

Chuck (imho) would have benefited with at lease another season, maybe two, of him being a nerd and whatever comes with the territory. Not to say that season 3 is a washout. I have it sitting on my kitchen counter right now…. Waiting for the spouse and I to have time off together.

Anyway, I’ll have to get back to this thread. Hopefully I will be cowering and pleading for thy divine mercy… (
Anyway, till then I stand on my judgment……. “ Chuck” would have prospered more with him not becoming a spy so quickly.

Z, the headstrong browncoat….. Unless you prove me wrong then I ain’t so headstrong….lol, out

That's cute, you had to come back after posting and re-edit your comment into a rant. Must have really gotten under your skin. How long did you work on this one? Did it make you feel better? I hope so.

Though really, you should have stuck with your original "Goodbye, loser" non-response. This just shows you are incapable of forming either a reasoned response, or a witty comeback.

I'm sorry that you feel that disagreeing with you, and explaining my reasoning is "being a jackass" to you. I'm not quite sure why you think your petulant little tantrums, which contain not a lick of actual thought, are better, but, you know, whatever.

Not that I ever said you couldn't be a jackass - but then, you clearly have no problem making up things about others if it suits your pointless tirade. So, please, go ahead and be a jackass, I don't care. You've clearly got a knack for it, and far be it from me to stand between you and your true calling.

Have fun with those mood swings.

It's adorable, watching you try and step up and be witty. Sorry you're no good at it, but a worthy try.

You keep accusing me of things you're doing. I think you might have mild issues with projection - or you're twelve.

You whine about me calling names - yet who did it first? that's right my man.... that'd be you You whine about me not liking it when others disagree - yet it was you who lost your shit because I dared say something that you disagreed with.

Let's make a list, shall we? Things you attributed to me, that were simple outright falsehoods:

Namecalling - as mentioned, started with you.

DVR numbers don't count - never said that.

Low-rated shows should be instantly canceled - never said that.

Me attacking a network for not canceling Chuck - did happen.

Me claiming to be an "expert" - Never happened, though next to you, I'm sure I must seem like one.

Accusing me of attacking when others disagree with me - yet you were the one who went on the attack because I said something YOU disagree with. Now, granted, I'll stand up for my POV, as you clearly want to do. I'm just, you know, better at forming coherent thoughts.

Take a look back, I didn't go after you - I just pointed out something you neglected, in a non-personal manner - and you went off on this little temper tantrum, laced with bullshit straw men (I'm doubting you know the term, but hey, one can hope), attacking me for stuff I never said.

Then there's the stuff like attacking my spelling. Which, while I may have some typos in there, I do use the good ol' spellchecker. And attacking someone's spelling is about the lamest, last-resort attack of a troll who knows they have not a foot to stand on.

GED? Ha, not only did I graduate, I teach High School. And your writing skills are far below the average teenager. I'm guessing you're still working on that GED. Good luck with that.

And then there's your cute attempt to one-up me by using.... the exact same terms I throw at you. Ooooooh, clever. Color me impressed. I feel totally chastised by your witty, biting and oh-so-original use of the English language.

I could keep going, but really, you're such an easy mark, it's not worth bothering. I feel like I'm debating Raymond Babbit. Beating you in an argument is, to paraphrase an old SNL joke, like beating Steven Hawking at basketball.

In short, to "stoop" to my level son, you'd need a fireman's ladder.

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

So, please, go ahead and be a jackass, I don't care. You've clearly got a knack for it, and far be it from me to stand between you and your true calling.

Have fun with those mood swings.

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

Storymark, I know you are used to bullying anyone that disagrees with you, just to keep your position as forum asshat, and they let you get away with it because you have issues, but I can fence with you as long as you want to play. I know your meds don't seem to work as well as they used to, and that makes you extra sensitive and sad! I know you think you're clever, but you're not the intellectual you think you are. Looking back on your posts, it's clear you can barely spell. Have you gotten your GED yet? Seems unlikely. I bet the lady driving the short bus liked you best though!

Oh darn! There I go again, stooping to your level! You're right about one thing, stooping to your level is neither witty or clever, but then again, if it was, you wouldn't understand it.

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

Back for more? It's a wonderful fantasy life you have while toiling away in your parent's basement. The teacher part was especially amusing. You? Shaping young minds? That's like giving a monkey a loaded gun!

The special school must have let you out early today! I am impressed that the public school you go to even mentioned Steven Hawking. It's even more amazing his name stuck in your teflon coated brain. The "Rainman" mention is hardly worth mentioning, as he's clearly an idol of yours! It's a shame they didn't teach you not to make fun of the handicapped. I guess political correctness is something they skip when trying to teach the slow kids like you. Keep working towards that GED and maybe you can get that teaching job. Teaching other mentally deficient kids how to make macaroni art!

Awww darn, I stooped again. To clarify, stooping to your level requires a sewer auger, not a ladder!

I admire your tenacity in coming back, over and over, to prove how facile your thinking really is.

But really, that's the best you can come up with? "Nuh-uh!, You are!"

Seriously? You can't come up with anything better? I mean, your dedication is admirable, but you can't even address a point, or refute any. granted, you couldn't really refute anything, since it's pretty easy to read the prior posts and see that I pretty much have your number, and all you have is name calling on your side. But you could at least put in a little effort.

And I'm not making fun of the handicapped. I'm just making fun of you. And you're not even making it difficult. Unless of course, you are mentally handicapped, which would explain a lot really, in which case, you have my apologies and my pity.

I'm sure in your limited mental fog, you thought that was clever, and you're standing in front of your mirror quoting Travis Bickle, "you talkin' to me?" while sucking in your gut! While you're admiring yourself in the mirror, don't forget to pull the lint buildup from under your fat rolls. I hope the special school teacher told you not to eat that stuff! Now that is something to pity. Sucks to be you, but then, you already knew that!

I'm not saying they couldn't have milked another season out of that scenario, but I'm glad they didn't try. I think it is more of a challenge for them to write a relationship that works in spite of all the pitfalls that we could expect because of their jobs.

Sometimes it works out, as in "Cheers" where we all knew how mismatched Sam and Diane really were. But it can also be taken too far down the wrong road, as it has on "Bones," which has lost me as a viewer as a result.

Yawn.

Go ahead, tell me again that I'm the one being personal.

While your at it, try and dispute a single point I made. Until you can, you're not even worth the scant effort it takes to talk circles around your sorry attempts at wit. Granted, you're clearly so worked up now you've lost your ability to use basic grammar, so I'm not holding my breath.

Sorry, I didn't even bother to read your latest, but it probably followed your formula. Lets see, first you start with another pathetic retort, limited by your mental illness due to years of family inbreeding. Then you follow that with a sad attempt to bolster your shattered ego with recycled quotes lifted from the internet. Then you end it all with another weak attempt at a pithy insult.

I'd tell you to break tradition, and breed outside of your family tree so that any offspring might have a chance at a normal life, but clearly that would leave you with no options. I do support you on one thing though, go ahead and hold your breath to your heart's content!

Truly, truly sad. At least my insults have an attempt at wit, and a vocabulary higher than the 5th grade verbiage you rely on. You're just a vile little child, who in several posts now, still can't address a single thought. And since you clearly realize you don't have the skills to match me in words, you resort to attacking my family. You're like a walking definition opf a troll. You're so pathetic, it's almost endearing.

Keep up the insults, it's very entertaining for me to watch you try, try, try to be clever with such a limited mind. I revel at watching you attempt to conceal your abject terror at the notion of engaging your brain.
