Ok, this might have been done before, it might not (If so feel free to delete this post) but the idea is to compile the biggest possible list of the casts acting history.
Anything from a staring role to a walk on role. Anytime you've seen our beloved 9 put it on the list.

To start with this everything I can come up with.

Mal: The obvious choice of Caleb from Buffy series 7. Also played James Fredick Ryan in Saving Private Ryan (The wrong private ryan the first came across).

Zoe: jasmine in Angel series 4. Tes in Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions (name might be wrong, but she was Dozer's widow).

Wash: Wall in A Knights Tale (again the name might be wrong, but he was the ginger one).

Kaylee: She was a lead character called Becca in a disney series Flash Forward.

Book: Ross's divource lawer in Friends

Ok thats all can come up with off the top of my head. As you can see I don't even have anything for Inara, simon, River or Jayne. So lets drag out those obscure TV and film memories and get adding.

I got stabbed, right here

Sorry, but I've got to mention Ron Glass in Barney Miller, because that show is so funny, and he was a big part of why. God knows Barney wasn't that funny.

Adam Baldwin's first major movie role was in Robert Redford's Academy Award Winning 1980 film "Ordinary People". In 2000 he was seen as a loyalist soldier in "The Patriot"

Alan Tudyk had a small part as a janitor/college student in one of the year 2000s most underrated films "Wonder Boys". His one liner stole the movie about how this guy uses pepporika.

Nathan Fillon played Private Ryan, in "Saving Private Ryan". He plays the first one the soldiers come up to who turns out not to be the correct Pvt. Ryan they were looking for.

Yeah. Gina Torres was in the first season of Alias. I loved that role. It was the first time I'd seen Gina and I had an immediate crush. Wasn't the name Anna Espinosa? Whatever happened to that character?

Just saw Morena in Roger Dodger. Small speaking part pre-Firefly.

On a side note: go to imdb and check out Ron Glass's notable TV appearances. It seems like that man was one of the stud guest stars of the seventies.

Yes she was Cleopatra on two episodes of Xena. Gina was also Nebula (pirate queen) on Hercules who had a relationship with Hercules' sidekick Iolaus which is VERY akin to the relationship Zoe has with Wash(strong warrior woman with supportive male partner who is not as martially skilled -- that martially, as in weapons and fighting folks).

She was also in an episode of CSI:Miami where she plays a prison warden.

But what you Browncoats may not be aware of is the fact that she is a very talented singer -- she was in a Tony nominated Broadway production of Rocky Horror Picture Show a few years back.
My guess is that she played Magenta but I am not sure on that (I saw her in TV during the Tony awards).

NERVOUSPETE

'Blast From The Past' surprised me by being a very solid and charming movie, one with such a degree of unironic, straight forward charm that it was almost being flung back to the days of Capra, or at least the genius 'Groundhog Day'.

And I did not know that was Nathan Fillion. And now I am compelled to find it and watch it again.

But the best part is still the bit where Christopher Walken dances with his wife, any opportunity for a little bit of Ronny to show through in him, I applaud. All hail Christopher Walken. All hail the next director who puts him in a film where he plays a nice, decent person who can dance instead of another (admittedly most likely brilliant) jittery freak in a mediocre to bad film.

Baldwin was in Kubrik's: Full Metal Jacket. ID4. He has done a great body of work on t.v. as well. With guest spots on Angel, X-files, JAG.

Stait starred in an old ep of The Pretender. Almost didn't recognize her as she was very young.

Fillion has done guest spots on Spin City, BTVS.

Glass starred in one of my all-time faves: Barney Miller.

Torres starred in Cleopatra:2525.

Tudyk has done quite a bit of movie work such as: A Knight's Tale.

Baccarrin, Maher, and Glau haven't done too much work that I'm aware of.

Nathan Fillion was in Miss Match with Alicia Silverstone, his co-star in Blast from the Past. He was a guest star. Think it was after Firefly though. Not a great show but since it's currently showing on RTE 2 in Ireland, I'm watching it. Strictly for Nathan. And Charisma Carpenter who also turns up occasionally. The main problem with it is that its guest stars are more interesting than its main characters. and it was cancelled, so Nathan is shot down again. poor boy. And he was so sweet in it. Though he really needs a haircut. And some boots. And some braces. And maybe a spaceship.

Yeah, I remembered that! ^-^ Since I wasn't able to watch it at school I got it off the net. So far, I've watched the 7th episode (he's featured in ep. 7 and 8) is pretty funny and I'm not even a Stargate fan!

*drools* Oh yes, Radio Flyer. Before I knew who Adam was, I was mostly drooling over a young Elijah. Then Firefly came along and his familarity drove me insane. So when I found out he was in that movie, I thought, "OHHH So that's who the hott abusive dad was!". Now I can't watch that darn movie without taking it seriously. It's all Adam's fault. He just can't scare me now that I know who he is. Everytime he starts talking I end up laughing hysterically.
But I do think he was really great in the movie...and I love the director's choice of showing every bit of him close up or far away without showing his face *drools* Damn Adam, DAMN.
