TETHYS

Back when The Train Job came out, I was blown away by what, at the time, struck me as the most refreshing sci-fi (or any genre) show that I had seen in a long time. I followed through most of the ep's as they aired, though I missed a few due to work....
I seemed to have been the only one in my area, Ft.Bragg area, that knew or even liked the show..even now, not a lot of people that I talk to has even heard of the BDH's. I stumbled onto this site a few months back while doing an image search for FF pics. I was busy with requested graphics at the time, and got caught up in the business that is my life, and wasn't really able to come back here again.
I stumbled onto the site again while actively searching for good FF sites after finally being able (the economy here in the states is a pain) to purchase the dvd's. I will admit that I have been completely blown away by the fact, that although I had thought for a long time that I was in the minority by being such a big fan of the show, I realize that I am not...
I really can't express how it feels to discuss things about the show to people that understand exactly wtf I am talking about.
I have only referred about 20 people in the last 3 days ONLINE ONLY to this site to learn more about FF...(My msn has a byline of 22April2005 will be a GOOD day!)..and of course EVERYONE asks me what it means.
I am glad I was able to come back here, and make it a home for my online travels..
I would also offer my services in any way possible (I am a graphics and web designer, and already have a few gaming websites up)to help out.

And i anyone in the DE, PA, or MA area, hit me up and let's see what we can do to help the BDM!!

Thanks again....for just being here

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Not just this community, but the entire Firefly fan community is a very shiny thing indeed. We may be small in numbers compared to some other fandoms (Star Wars, Trek, etc) but we are growing by leaps and bounds every day. If you haven't visited the new Official Universal/Serenity/Browncoat site you should do so. I would love to get the extra points, but instead of my linking to it why not click Haken's link on the mainpage here, the first link in the "What's New" column.

I still visit here several times a day, and also at the old Fox/Prospero board, and Jeremy(dvdguy's) serenitymovie.net. I have no idea how many members these other sites have, but in just a little more than a month there are over 10,000 browncoats signed up at the Universal site, and with the success of the Serenity panel at Comic-Con I think it's going to grow even faster in the coming months. And a lot of those fans are coming from various other online communities that I had not been aware of before.

We still have a long way to go to get the Firefly/Serenity message out to the rest of the SF fandom world, and unfortunately we also have to battle those who speak harshly of our BDHs, but for the most part I think most people will view them as just jealous trolls who fear the shiny new fandom that is growing.

As Mal said in the teaser to "The Train Job,"

I think we'll rise again!

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the board Tethys. It is always a pleasure to greet a new browncoat to the site. Make yourself at home and jump into the conversations; your views would be much appreciated on topics.

Your story about stumbling across the site sounds pretty similar to mine. I watched the show on Fox, and when it went on "hiatus" I went online to get info on what was going on. I found this site and started lurking. Haken runs a great site and has the best info on the net about all things Firefly.
