OK Browncoats it's time to join virtual hands and think good vibes for our fellow Browncoats in Florida and nearby areas. Looks like the weather is getting a mite dicey down there.

All together now, on the count of three, one two three {{{warm fuzzy{{{{VIBE}}}be safe!}}}

As a Florida Browncoat I can assure y'all that it's not too bad. I've definitely been through worse. But we "sunshine state" folks (insert irony here) do appreciate the good wishes.

Keep Flying,

I will say that it is very creepy to go out driving around right now....EVERYTHING is shut down, and it looks like a ghost town! One gas station was open (and I think a bar), but that was it. Guess we'll have to break out the Firefly DVDs again....Oh, drat, she says...

We're just waiting to see if we're getting a direct hit or not (Tampa Bay). Hubby's a long time FL resident, and he assures me that it won't be that bad, but I remember being about 200 mi away from Andrew and watching palm trees bend entirely over and touch the ground...yikes! At least we're in high ground and didn't need to evacuate, so no flooding here, just gotta worry about the winds.

Hunkering down with the dogs, inlaws, and mom....oh joy...it's the waiting that's the worst!

I remember Andrew as well..Hugo.....Fran, etc etc

My parents and in-laws live in Florida now, and my parents might end up at a red cross shelter, so definately count my thoughts in as well.

an amazing day...NO impact in our area at all, when up till about 2pm today, we were supposed to be ground zero! Gorram thing took a major turn to the NE this afternoon, came in about 1 1/2 hours south of us, and actually went inland, and ended up going right over Orlando! Very freaky...good thoughts being sent for those in Charlotte and Lee counties (I used to live in Lee), as we're not going to know the full extent of the damage until tomorrow, but it was very close to wind speeds seen in Andrew, just over a smaller area. Thanks for all the good karma, guys!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

My thoughts, prayers and best wishes go out to everyone in Florida, but especially to our fellow Browncoats and their families.

I am at work on a Saturday morning helping to organize the collection and loading of relief supplies (food, blankets, batteries, generators, medical supplies, donations, etc) for the areas hit by the hurricane yesterday. We will most likely work through the weekend getting supplies out to Florida, and then to South and North Carolinas as they feel Mother Nature's wrath.

Take care everyone.

I second that! I enourage every single registered Browncoat on Fireflyfans.net to post a message on this thread and let our colleagues in Florida know your best hopes are with them.

I am in the origanal ground zero, Tampa bay. I explained to many that prayers were needed and some old fashioned Juju. The Juju being in the form of being prepared. I got in the supplies etc and watched as the area did the same. It is the most I had seen people get prepared in years. Then it veered at the literal last minute and hit unprepared land. The JuJu worked , no winds and only a sprinkle here.
Now I wonder, if everyone in the state had prepared.. would it have just stopped , spinning, and confused?
It may not have been in the national news, but a shelter lost it roof with 1400 people inside.. NOT a pretty sight.
Yep, they will need lots of help in the area.
Bless you all.. and a special blessing to those hit by the hurricane.

The Journey is the worthier part.

wow...my thoughts are with those in the shelter......here in DE, people are scoffing at the storm, saying the area doesn't ever get hurricanes, but since I've lived through Andrew, Hugo, and Fran, so I tend to give mother nature greater respect than most...
still haven't heard anything from my mother that lives close to cedar key, fl...when I hear something from there, I will let everyone know...

Made it through as well. I was on the far side of the state and still managed to spend 24 hrs without power.

I was here for Andrew and i can tell you, it sucks, but were a generally tough bunch. Hurricanes and the like dont set us off that much. im from way south. Miami-Dade county and i tell you if it was not for school id be up there helping our fellow browncoats.

I swear by my pretty floral bonnet I will end all hurricanes.

Thank you all for your prayers. I live in Orlando and we were hit directly, not as bad as it could have been, but we will be cleaning up the yard for weeks. We lost several big pine trees, thank goodness none hit the house, though one came mere inches from my car. We are still without power and will probably be without til Saturday, atleast that is what they are predicting, so I can't even watch my Firefly discs, very sad. Hopefully power will come back soon. Glad to see that so many others managed to make through alright.

I figured I'd bump this since us Florida Browncoats can use all of the good thoughts that the community can muster.

Yup, living down here in south FL I'm thinking of trying to get out tomorrow morning and flying to Boston (where my mom lives) in an attempt to miss it. Hopefully nothing too bad will happen, though it looks like it's going to directly hit us unlike the last one a few weeks ago. Thanks for your thoughts, hopefully everything will be fine.

I'm in Port Charlotte, and boy, it was bad. 145+ mph winds....watching pieces of your house fly off...I was very, very lucky. My little house held, my pets and I were safe, but I also couldn't watch my Firefly dvds for 13 days. I just now got my internet connection back this morning.

Thank you all for your warm wishes....but now we have Frances to worry about! She should be blowing our way Sat. evening

By the way.....I love Badger (big Mark S. fan). I'm also new to this site...where do you get the little pics of the characters?
