JEWELSTAITE

Hello to the faithfuls again!

I've been reading your posts about DragonCon lately, and I'm so pleased that so many browncoats will be there to "carry the torch" with me, so to speak. Unfortunately, so far I'm the only cast member due to be a guest, so I hope that ain't too disappointing.. I promise to dish lots of dirt about everyone, though, considering they won't be there to defend themselves.

I also hear there will be a "designated browncoat table", which is very cool. I'm pretty positive they'll have me very busy at this Con, but it sounds like there's some fun stuff organized. They might want me to do a handful of Q&A's, which I LOVE! I hope to meet every last one of you, and then some. On the 4th, I'll be doting on Matty all day (my husband), as he is turning the big 2-5 (old man), so I'll have to give him loads of attention and probably get him drunk in the hotel bar. We are both SO excited to be going! I can't tell you how much fun we have at these things... It will be the perfect "farewell" to Serenity, as we're going to Atlanta pretty much directly after our wrap party, it looks like.

And then after Atlanta, we're going home to beautiful Vancouver. Just in time for winter.

And let me just say: This experience, filming this movie, has been the most wonderful experience of my whole career. I love this cast so much it's silly. And I can tell you confidently that this "BDM", as y'all like to call it, is going to be FABULOUS. I promise. You are going to absolutely love what's been created here... It will shock you and make you laugh and make you cry... which was the general plan. I hope you adore it as much as we do. All hail to Joss the Genius.

I will see you (most of you, I hope) in Atlanta in a few weeks! Until then, be safe and happy.

Love, Jewel

See, now why is it that every Con with all the BDH's is NEVER AROUND WHERE I LIVE. Does that seem right to you? God, I would so love to go, but alas, Atlanta is just too far out of my way.

Anyway, believe me, Jewel, we are all so looking forward to the BDM more anxiously than anything in a LONG time. Thank you for posting here and keeping all us fans so informed.

WE LOVE YOU, JEWEL. Wish Matt a big Happy B-day from all of us!!!

BLACKOUTNIGHTS

Well, September the 4th is my birthday also, and I'll be 35. Good God. I don't feel 35!! Actually, maybe I do...a little. Man, what a bummer.

"Art is Ego. Art is, 'I think this is good, so I'm going to present it to you.' That is ego. That is the Id. If I don't walk on stage thinking I'm the baddest motherfucker of all time, then I'm a charlatan. And whether you think I am, or he thinks I am, or she thinks I am—fuck you all, man. I don't give a fuck what you think. You're either in or you're out, and I'm playing to the in."—Greg Dulli, former lead singer of The Afghan Whigs and frontman of The Twilight Singers.

Jewel,

You (and the rest of the BDHs) have an entire office full of fans at Sovereign Press, a little game company in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. We'll be at Dragon*Con, selling our games in the exhibit hall and doing signings with the owner of our company, author Margaret Weis -- who is also a featured guest!

If you get to tour the hall, please come by and say hello! I'm hoping to get away long enough to make a Q&A or autograph signing.

To the rest of my fellow browncoats who will be at Dragon*Con, stop on by our booth in the Exhibit Hall. We'll be selling the novels and games for both Dragonlance and Sovereign Stone, and will have authors Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman in the booth!

Take care!

Jamie Chambers

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Disappointed??? Don't be silly Jewel! The very fact you are going to be there this makes this the very best Dragon Con that I have ever attended. I would like to ask in advance that you excuse me if I act like a fanboy when I meet you.

There is dirt on everyone? Oh, now I am most definitely looking forward to talking to you at the Con.

Yes, there will be an organized Browncoat table at the Con. It will be in the lower lobby of the Marriott Marquis hotel. We should be pretty easy to spot w/ all of the Firefly posters, fliers, and people in costume. We are going to be doing our part to get the word on Firefly, the DVD set, and the BDM out to those that have not discovered the greatest sci fi show ever to grace a television (and now the big screen).

I hope you do have a Q&A. I am sure that all of the Browncoats attending will be there to ask questions, and offer up support and adoration. I am sure I speak for everyone attending when I say that we are looking so very forward to meeting you.

Your husband's birthday is on Sept 4th? Now that is just downright creepifying. My wife's birthday is also on the 4th! Perhaps we should get a cake or something. She will be attending the Con as well. I will not be singing "Happy Birthday" though as I do not have Adam Baldwin's gift of song.

So you will be coming to Atlanta direct from the wrap party? Any way we could impose upon you for pics of the wrap party if you take any? All of the cast of Serenity hold a dear place in all of hearts and if it is no imposition we would love to share in your experience.

Thank you so much for your assurances on the BDM being great. We never doubted it would be for a minute. We all trust in the genius that is Joss, and the chemistry and magnificent talent that is our beloved cast.

I am so looking forward to finally having the opportunity to meet you in person. Take care and send our love to each and everyone of the cast, Joss, and the crew.

America loves a winner!

1st, Happy B-Day early to Matty ( You lucky ...) Anyway, I'm still looking at making DragonCon here in ATL, but the specifics are yet to be worked out.

Thanks bunches Jewel, for the awesome post. Very much enjoy your enthusiasm for the BDM. Ya really make waiting for next April that much more challenging. It still gives me a shiny feeling every so often when I think of the trip we made from the series that was to seeing Firefly up on the big damn screen.

Pinch me!

If anything could persuade me to fly again this month (I type this from Denver airport) it would be to come see you, Jewel, and hear you dish dirt on the BDM. Thank you so much for your posts; please keep 'em comin', even just to tell us how you're doin' in Vancouver, new projects you're working on, your next con appearance, etc. How lucky we FFF folks are to have had you along for this ride!

Thanks for posting, Jewel. :) It's always wonderful when the forum for a show or a movie has members of the BDC (Big Damn Cast ;) ) drop in now and then to let the fans know what is going on. I wish I was going to Atlanta for the Con, but maybe I'll get a chance to go in the future when the second or third Serenity movie comes out. :)

I only learned about Firefly (and got hooked on it) within the last couple of weeks, and it is definitely some of the best television in the last couple of decades. I'm sure the movie is going to be even better. :)

I'm a Dragon Con veteran and I've gotta say you're really saving the Con this year as far as actors coming. You are most definitely not a dissapointment. Most of the usual big names just seem to have vanished off the radar, so you're our big shining star! Greatly looking forward to seeing you there, I'll be the tall girl dressed as Kaylee begging you to make me your personal assistant, lol. Will work for strawberries.

Thanks for your posting Jewel! And happy birthday to Matty!

How can you talk about dissapointment when you are actually coming to DragonCon?! Have a great time there. I wish I could come, but I live way too far... Any chance you'll get to Israel any time before the movie?

Anyways, Thanks a lot for your devotion to the fans... You are a BDH.

Unfortunately, I won't be in Atlanta, but I hope everyone who does go gets the word out about the BDM!

And also, one of the things I have come to appreciate about Firefly and its cast and crew (aside from the obvious heaps of talent and creativity) is the outright friendliness and love they have for the fans. I haven't had the opportunity to meet any of them, but if all of them are as gracious as you, Jewel, I can just imagine how cool it would be to hang out! Thanks for posting Jewel, and thanks for being one of those stars that truly loves what they are doing.

Best of luck in future projects and with the BDM...keep us informed!

Thanks for posting again, Jewel! These regular updates from you are great, thanks so much for taking the time to keep us informed. You truly are a BDH

I imagine you're probably feeling a bit sad about the forthcoming end of filming, but fear not, you'll soon be back together with the other BDHs for the premiere and then, once the film is a huge success (as we know it will be) for BDM 2 and 3!

There will be a lot going on at Dragon Con this year. From the looks of things there will be quite a few Browncoats in attendance. Hopefully we will be able to get our BDHs to stop by the Browncoat table or get some photos of us w/ them for the fans that can't make the Con.
