I am SO excited about this Shindig! I only hope I can get time off work...and go for a 7 or 8 hour drive to the Eastern part of the state. It'll be worth it to actually talk to other people who like to talk about FF!! There aren't too many Browncoats that I've found in Pittsburgh :-(

BUMP!

And a very brief update so that this post isn't completely pointless:

Running around like chicken with head cut off, if chickens could in fact plan a shindig while headless and running.
Trying to answer all the bazillion emails I got about the shindig.

Hey 'Hat (or headless-running-chicken-thing-gone-wrong...)!

Thanks for all the leg work (again with the running)! Have you had any time to put up a web page for this cosa nostra? Might help consolidate things a bit. Mayhap you could delegate this to one of the other prospective attendees. Someone with knowledge of such stuff. Someone not me.

BTW, I was perusing (great old word, that) one of the many "how old are you" threads, and I belieeeeeve someone is a couple of days shy of a birthday......

Hope it's a good one!

Thanks for keeping us posted!

Keep flyin'!!

I bow down before your greatness,MyOrangeHat... Everything is going so w-e-l-l! My husband and I will be there FOR SURE. The website is good, by the way. And can I mention how INSANELY JEALOUS I am of all the conventions you've been to?!?!

Bowing? Oooo! I've never had bowing before. ;p Yup, things seem to be going quite well thankfully. I'm glad you can make it to the shindig. Can't wait to meet you in October!

Glad you like the site. It is bare bones right now. I'm going to spiff it up over the weekend.

Hehehe. Funny thing is I've only ever been to two conventions in my entire life. I just picked REALLY good ones. :

Bumping, along with a suggestion: MoH, perhaps Haken will let you put this topic (along with the super-important link to your website) in the Browncoat Events section.

ETA: Hotel/motel info would be appreciated ASAP, since this is going to be a huge shindig!

Well, that's an easy enough thing to figure out. I can probably tell you off the top of my head, in fact. But first I need to know what area you are from.

I can tell you this, I'm about an hour from the Philadelphia airport. About 2 hours from Ocean City, New Jersey. And about 2 hours from Harrisburg. Any of that help?

Second of all, I've been talking with myorangehat about the bus that runs through Quakertown (which is rather close to Harleysville) and which has generously offered a carpool from. If you are in eastern PA and without transport, or without transport and can get a bus to Philadelphia, check out http://www.biebertourways.com/schedules.asp for the bus schedule.

I'm working on setting aside a block of rooms so as to get y'all a discount. I should have the details on that worked out by tomorrow. Without a discount, the hotel rooms are $99 for a room with two double beds. These rooms are quite nice and are very reasonable if you share the room and cost with a person or two.

There is another hotel that is just as close that runs about $69 a night, but that hotel is just crummy. But if you need to save some cash and are up for an adventure in "I-can't-believe-I-payed-money-to-stay-here-Land" then I'll gladly give you the info for that one too.

Also, I'm putting up people for free at my home. I estimate that I can fit 15 people. But you will be on hardwood floors and you'd be responsible for bringing your own sleeping bag or air mattress and pillow. I already have one for sure that I'm putting up and others that are going to get back to me. If you want to stake claim to a piece of my floor let me know ASAP, because it is first come first serve.

Also, the website should be completely finished by Monday(hopefully sooner). I actually have the weekend off so I can really get some work done. As always, if anyone has any questions please email me PenPenAgain@aol.com OR you can post messages on the board. :)

PS- Please help me keep this thread bumped. Thanks guys.

*bump*, and here's a question: what about bathroom facilities? You could rent port-a-johns for the weekend. My brother did that when he was having his bathroom redone. (Of course, it was waaay longer than a weekend).

Oh, and MoH, that is awesome that you can try to get lowered motel rates! Might I suggest discounts for the 2 double beds as well as rooms that could accomodate a third person? I have a feeling I may be driving a few people and I'd like to make it as cheap as possible.

This shindig is really coming along. My (orange) hat is off to ya!

Good suggestion. I'll look into renting port-a-johns. Of course my home's bathrooms will be available but I only have 1.5 bath in the whole house so it would be possible to get looong lines.

I JUST GOT LOWERED HOTEL RATES!! :) Just got off the phone with the lady and she got me a great deal. I'm going to send emails and post all the particulars within an hour or two. I just want to make sure I have all the info before I post it.

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE!!

Hotel Information

Best Western Towamencin
Phone Number: 215-368-3800
Price: $75 double room(special group rate)
Distance from shindig: About 15 minutes. Easy drive.

You MUST book your room by September 9th to guarantee availability and group rate!!! Mention 'Bit by Bit' Farm to get the group rate.

Call the phone number for more information on the type of rooms that are available. They are very friendly and helpful. They even offer a service where they email you personalized driving direction to get to the hotel.

Put me and the spouse down as confirmed, please, MOH. We're a bit over an hour away from you, so I reckon we'll just drive back and forth instead of renting a place.

I'd like very much to pitch in, and steamedbao3's handle gave me an idea-- perhaps we should look into bringing a batch of fresh bao from Chinatown in Philly when we come.

I live in Waltham and work in town if so you know the area I am in. I am confrimed to be going and will be a floor crasher, my friend Jamie might come too, but I am not sure about him yet.
