I thought of an idea to market both the firefly DVD series and Serenity at the same time. This may be dependent on the availability, or lack thereof, of Firefly in video rental stores. Assuming that the DVD set is not readily available, one could purchase several DVD sets and ask a video rental store to allow a static display including the movie poster and an advertisment of the Firefly series with the DVD displayed for rental. The cost to the video store would only be in maintaining the display and cycling the rentals. As advertising dollars go, it would be relatively cheap to invest in the DVDs and display materials. The rental store would profit from the rentals making it worth their while and the browncoats would get, perhaps, many converts. The entire DVD set would have to be rented as a single rental to make it attractive to the consumer.

Tell me what you think. I don't personally have the resources it would take, but I thought the idea would kill two birds with one stone.

Thank you in advance for your input.

How about this?

I think there should be two taglines for this movie. For the movie theatre trailer, we need to see a quick shot of each character in all his or her glory, think (Mal drawing his pistol, Wash pulling the ship up before it slams into a mountain, Simon injecting someone with something, Jayne just kind of grunting and acting dumb) but at the very end of the trailer, after several scenes of the River kicking and fighting, that awesome dessert hover craft chase and the Serenity herself, we need to hear the following:

"This spring, save the 'verse with the crew of Serenity."

Basically, people who could care less about Firefly will understand that Serentiy is the name of the ship and not think the whole think is a chick flick or a movie about an aging horse. Get my drift?

Also, wouldn't it be cool to have Serentiy refered to, in print and electronic ads, as "The best Science Fiction movie of the year." I bet that would really irk George Lucas.
