Like you said, naturally my first pick is Firefly. But a close second would be Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Very few things can get me to cry but by the ending I could feel the tears behind my eyes. It managed to be funny and sad at the same time and the result was delightful. The casting was fantastic (though I didn't particularly care for having to hate a character of Nathan's) and the songs were equally wonderful. Definitely a 'Bravo, Joss' moment.

Amy was certainly a bright spot. I even loved how they worked Harmony back into the story... and , of course, Spike.

But yeah, the series finale, I truly enjoyed. Hated how somethings went, of course, but they were done in classic Joss and company style. Very powerful.

Actually, neither did I! - was prepared to be disappointed in fact.

What mostly got me was the characters/actors were so effectively done - Iron Man being something of a showboating jerk, but still somehow you wanna like him, Thor as his obnoxiously boneheaded and tempermental but basically decent self, and Banner as the tortured soul he really is, Joss pulled it all together and squeezed magic out of it somehow.

Props for the CGI work too, in comparison to say.. Iron Man 2, which I did not care for, and got shoved into watching on Netflix by a friend - the Black Widow Fight scenes were such awful CGI it was downright cringeworthy, and the only interesting part of THAT mess was the guy playing Hammer, creepy-dorky-awesome-psycho, he was terribly entertaining.

I don't actually like this variation on Nick Fury though, but it's tolerable, Jackson brings a subtler arrogance than usual, and Hill/Coulson are good foils.

But what REALLY drives a hero movie, is the VILLAIN, and Loki came through like gangbusters, well, right up to that ONE point, meh heh heh.

Yeah, I was quite surprised myself Shiny :D I guess expectation probably got the better of me on this one. I still enjoyed it, and some scenes were down right priceless (Elevator lobby) (Guy driving with a bong in his car - and the logic therein) & (The guys in the booth) All wonderful... Just seemed like a lot of disparate ideas that didn't quite flow.

Don't know about the rest in terms of ranking. Didn't like Avengers or Cabin in the Woods much. Buffy is one of the most brilliant and important pieces of film/tv ever for me... Angel and Firefly aren't far behind, but Serenity was a big one because of the anticipation for the film and how it fulfilled my expectations and so much more.
