Have you heard about the Browncoat Ball? It's located in a different city every year. Local Browncoats write up bids, and one location is selected. This year it will be at Phoenix, Arizona, from October 4-6, 2013 at the Coast Hotel, 4300 East Washington St, Phoenix, AZ 85034.

What is the Browncoat Ball? It is the social event of the season. It gathers Browncoats from all over the world to celebrate who we are as a community. Inspired by the episode "Shindig." Fans dress in their finest to dine, dance, and do some socializing.

On Friday, there will be a re-enactment of the Unification War out by the pool with water guns and a cocktail party later in the evening. There will be a Saturday Sundae Ice Cream Social followed by “away team” field trips around the city on Saturday, and then the Ball itself Saturday night. It’s a traditional ball complete with a caller announcing the guests, beautiful women and dapper men, the finest security this side of Persephone, and a buffet table to interrogate to your heart’s content.

Oh I wish. It was in my city a few years ago but I was in New England during the ball, talk about bad vacation timing. Had a great time out East, but if only it had been a week earlier or later. I wish I could come this time.

If you'd like it in your city, gather your local Browncoats to put in a bid for 2014. The bids are usually due around mid August.

If you are thinking about attending this year, now is the time to get a ticket. The Early Bird Registration ends on February 28th. The regular price will start on March 1st.

The Kids Need to Read's fundraiser for Nathan Fillion's birthday is winding down, but it's not too late to donate to the cause. We have the Browncoat Ball fundraiser that has just started, and it will go until April 30th.
