I read a while ago that George Lucas was looking for someone creative to continue the Star Wars saga in a TV series..

I just cant let go of this idea. Joss Whedon making a Star Wars TV series.. unfrellinbelievable! Imagine ILM's vast resources at Joss' disposal and the magic he could weave..

How would it be possible to mention this idea to either Lucas or Whedon? I would love to hear either Lucas' or Whedons'(or both) take on the idea.

Doesnt Lucas have his own production studios? He should also back the return of Firefly.

Pie in the sky?

depends on what era of star wars they would do, i think early would be best suited to the market, but latter would draw out the fans if it was good

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

I think Joss could do a GREAT job but it would all come down to the weight of Lucas's thumb.

What if Lucas gave it to Mutant Enemy and Joss? Tim Minear, Ben Edlund, Jane E?

Fallen Jedi, smugglers, desperate out of work Water Farmers. May the force be in the pipe I'm smoking.

Yeah - that's the problem, Lucus wouldn't let Joss have any real creative input so what would be the point of having his name on there at all?

I've heard that the cartoons are good - but I think it's easier for animation guys to lock George out of the loop than it would be for live action guys who have a set, writers room and edit suite to be "visited". Try and sit through an episode of Young Indiana Jones and you'll see the lost cause for all it's worth - sure Nicolas Roeg did an episode, Terry Jones did another (Ect.) Big names, big talent - crap TV.

Joss payed his dues as a script doctor - why the hell would he want to go and take it up the ass from a guy who lost his talent "A Long Time Ago...."

In any case Joss has his own Sci-fi universe that's got a hell of a lot more character in it than a series of movies that, at this point, are nothing more than the mid-life cris of a guy who looks like a hampster.

Yes the main caveat must be TOTAL creative control for Joss, otherwise all bets are off..

Hey, here's a thought. After Serenity becomes a HUGE hit, and SW-3 ( once again ) underwhelms its fans , George has a bright idea of asking Joss .... for a JOB!

Knowing what I do of Joss' morally-ambiguous writing style, I wouldn't mind seeing him cut loose in the post-NJO timeline.

The GFFA is digging itself out from the wreckage of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, the worst war in galactic history. The New Republic and Empire have been swept away and reformed as the Alliance of Free Planets. Entire worlds have been wiped out, Coruscant is devastated. The "Old Heroes" are all retired and/or dead.

There's a new generation of Jedi, with a somewhat more. . . ambivalent understanding of the Force. About Light and Dark being complementary.

joss could certainly bring a lot to it given free enough control, as could kevin smith, who's name has also been thrown around in relation to this. that said, i'd much prefer to see guys like this in control of their own stuff. a huge part of the greatness of joss's shows has come from all the jossisms, certain ways of characters using language, and the fact that you know that there is always a funny moment just around the corner, even in stuff like the body episode of buffy. i can't see him getting the freedom to do the same sort of thing on other people's property.

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

Ya, it's a joke, but I wouldn't want to see anything else in this thread get close to reality. George Lucas has been killing Star Wars for years. I think it's time for the family to say "Remove the life support".

QUICKSAND

The thing you need to remember about George Lucas is, he's lost his damn mind.

Every time I hear about another 'change' for this new Star Wars DVD box set, I want to put my fist through a wall. They're silly, and so is he.

If he has any brain at all, he WOULD have come to Joss before beginning production on Episode III. It was Lucas, after all (back when he was Still With Us) who went to noted sci-fi author Leigh Brackett and asked her to help with the draft of Episode V. And then he pulled a talented young kid out of the mailroom, Lawrence Kasdan, and had him help with that movie and Episode VI, as well.

That was 1983. Somewhere between 1983 and 1997, Lucas just lost his damn mind. And so another, more talented writer comes in and wows us all while we move on to the next thing. While we're all looking forward to "Joss: The Crazy Years," I'm going to enjoy the hell out of our current time as much as possible.

When 'Serenity' hits theatres in April, I think we'll be able to move a few people in line for Ep.III over to our movie, some of them more than once......
