Hey guys! I'm new here and this is my first post.

I visited a friend who had the Firefly DVD, and watched a few episodes. I bought the DVD the next day, and over three evenings, I had watched everything there was to watch including episodes with commentary. I'm in love with this show, and I'm not a TV person. I've never had a favorite show. I get like one fuzzy station. The only use for my TV was watching DVD's and on occasion, stacking junk mail. I've never seen a show that you will have tears from laughter and tears of sadness as well. The show is wonderful and powerful! Every character is so great! I love them all, though I'm a little partial to Kaylee. In "Objects in Space" when she's being threatned by Early, I just wanted to reach in there and give her a hug! How dare anyone threaten little Kaylee!!! It wouldn't be what it is without each and every character, as well as the actors that played them. Joss is awesome! Then, I read about how wonderful the cast is to the fans, and it makes me admire them even more. I visited a friend that got the autographs of Adam Baldwin, Nathan Fillion, and Jewel Staite. He showed them to me and I was like, well, that's cool. Then, I saw the show! Something as simple as those 3 autographs had new meaning then! It really showed how great and appreciative the cast is to the fans.

Well, this got kind of long, but I just wanted to say what I felt about the show. I've never been pulled into a show and held there the way Firefly does.

Long live Serenity...

Welcome!!!

I have to agree that while the show is great the cast's response to the fans and the Browncoat community itself are what make the show even greater (if that's possible)!!!

And I have a feeling that come April 22nd its going to get even shinier!!!

ABSADOODLE! Let me tell ye all a story ,if you want to know w what i think of this show read my profile---this story has to deal with my 1 1/2 hour bus ride home every day from nyc to nj.i have listened to music and watched many dvds on my portable player from the new star wars to mr show and while i love these dvds and the music i listen to i always fall asleep--until last week in which i brought disc 1 with me and for the next few days i watched serenity, the train job,and bushwacked and i never fell asleep.now i have watched these dvds so many times, and yet they never get old--no other show has made me feel this way--and there are only 14 episodes! ive watched this show so much that, if it was on mute i could still say the lines.you know that question-"if you were on a deserted island(lost) what dvd,cd and book would you bring--well i have my answer--FIREFLY---and then next year,Serenity.did i mention that i love this show?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the site Slowhand. We are glad to have you with us.

Thanks for sharing your story with us on how you discovered the show. Glad to hear that you are the proud owner of a DVD set. Now of course you know you are obligated to go out and share it w/ all of your friends, family & co-workers.

The movie comes out April 22nd of 2005, so be sure to mark your calendar. Take everyone that you can convince to go w/ you.

I agree w/ Kellaina that the cast chatting w/ us on the boards, being so open, honest and down right personable at Cons, and the great people you meet on the boards makes this the best fandom out there.

Awww, I loved reading this! I am having a bit of a Firefly renaissance myself thanks to the DVD's. I did watch it originally and daydreamed about how I could steal Wash away from Zoe...but I digress. And, the movie comes out on my 27th birthday. What better way to celebrate I ask you?

Ok, off to try and convert the island of Oahu to the joys of Firefly...or at least some of it...

Just thought I'd like to add my Firefly story to the bunch.

I have a friend who help run my university's science fiction club and she keeps asking me to come to their Friday night screenings of various shows. I've always declined being that most of the screenings were something I had seen before or wasn't nessesarily a fan of. When the Firefly night came in early August, I had no excuse, I had no plans, it was something I had seen before and had enjoyed Buffy and Angel when I had a chance to watch them. That night they screened the first five episodes. Could feel Joss's writing ooze out of the dialogue, the characters quickly grew on me and their love for each other shone brightly. After that brief screening all I could do was to tell all my science fiction loving friends all about Firefly and they were saying how much they would like to check it out. I went about trying to order a copy from the States but found out that they were releasing a copy here in a few weeks. A soon as it came out I got a copy and have gradually shown it to many friends. Most really enjoyed it, not sure they will be hardcore browncoats but I'm sure they would mention it in a conversation if it ever came up.

By the way if anyone knows any Australian browncoats I'd love to know. I'm very jealous of all the American shindigs.

Well, I showed the first disk to several people over the weekend. I got 3 to go out and buy the DVD's, and about 10 that said they were definatly going to see the movie! It's so easy! All you have to do is show the show to them, and let it do the work! I was just going to show "Serenity", but after it was over, they wanted to keep watching, so we watched the first disk. It was great!

Welcome to the site Colski. Glad to have you w/ us.

There are some Australian Browncoats on the site, though I do not remember their online names right off hand.

America loves a winner!

Hey Slowhand, glad to see there's another out in the 'verse who uses their T.V. for watching DVD's and mot much else. Ok, XBox games here for me, but I don't "do" to much t.v. anymore. Just what may come over the airwaves.

Glad you like the Box set. Great stuff.

Auraptor,

If you haven't already, you might want to give "Lost" a chance. Really good stuff so far.

You are right. Firefly is the easiest show I have ever found to get people to watch. If they see one episode, they normally become Browncoats.

Congrats on making converts! Keep up the good work. The more people we get to buy the DVD and fill seats for the BDM, the brighter the future looks.

I've got a thread started on a Star Wars forum I'm on. I've got lots of people talking about Firefly, and it's cool! One guy said he's never seen us all agree on anything, Star Wars included, so he went out and bought the DVD's! He said he now blames me for getting him hooked! LOL! I put this forum on one of my posts, so there may be a flood of new Browncoats coming this way!
