At this point in history, y'all must have seen examples of those uber-shiny and super complicated pumpkin carving desgins. If you've been living under a very large rock, look here for examples: http://www.zombiepumpkins.com/movies.php

Here's what I'm thinkin', we have us some powerful creative folk in our numbers. Surely one of y'all must be able to scribble up a Firefly-oriented pumpkin-carving stencil. Think of the guerilla marketing potential!

Well, get on with it.

I have an idea for a Crow pumpkin that's really easy to do .

There are three kinds of people: fighters, lovers, and screamers.

We got an actual engine to use, or do we just go with a sledgehammer?

We applied the cortical electrodes but were unable to get a neural reaction from either patient.

I'm thinking throw it off the roof. Then you get an authentic splatter wherever it lands.

Oops. That was more a throwaway-one-line-joke-type thingy rather than a cryptic reference to an actual plan. I read the first post and thought, "Wow. Great idea. Firefly pumpkins would be awesome. Hmmmm. I'm feeling kind of lazy right now. What would be the easiest Firefly themed pumpkin ... CROW!"

So I actually didn't have a plan. But Cybersnark and Ebo both have great ideas.

Just off the tope of my head: Wood chipper... driving over it with truck... M-80... The possibilities kind of take me back to adolescence...

I'm glad the thread got bumped. I was looking forward to all the creative ideas that fireflyfans would come up with and post (rather than lazy ideas like mine ).

I shaved my beard for you, devil woman!

NYWOE

Way ahead of you. :)

Here's my pattern for Serenity:

http://photos.yahoo.com/nywoe2

I couldn't figure out if there was a way to write captions for these pics.

If anyone wants to make this Jack-O-Lantern, you can go to www.carvingpumpkins.com to learn this technique. In short, you cut all the way through the black parts, cut halfway through the gray parts, and leave the white parts alone. Some modification may have to be done while carving. Most notably, the bars on the back (where Serenity's engine "fire" is), may need to be widened to keep them from breaking off. The first picture that I posted is the pattern. I don't know how big it will print up, so you may need to modify the size.

The second picture is roughly what the finished pumpkin should look like! (*crosses fingers*)

The third picture is a *rough* pattern that I'll use to carve the Firefly logo into a pumpkin. I'll need to widen the skinny parts so that light will shine through, and also try to make sure that the loops (such as in the "e", the tail of the "y", etc.) don't break off.

Everyone have a Shiny and Happy Halloween!

FRISSYJUNK

Currently working on a Jayne-O-Lantern.

Ever since my WWDN (Wil Wheaton) one came out so well, I've been looking to create more like it.

I'm using either some black & white art that I found:

Or a good screen shot of his face full on.

I think full on is going to work better, otherwise I'm going to have a lot of rutting lines to carve out.

I use funkins (fake pumpkins) BTW, so the "Crow-O-Lantern" won't work for me!
