Greetings everyone,

My name is JeffreyMoon, I live in Hungary and I am doing a great research. Though I feel pity for the unofficial cancellation of the show, I consider myself as a Star Wars fan. Before the rage begins, I like Firefly! :)

(I really hope that this request finds its own topic thread)

So...what is my research is all about?

Me and a friend of mine (a die hard Firefly fan) had an argument, in which we were speculating a battle's outcome between Han Solo and Malcolm Reynolds. Since we are pretty subjective towards our loved franchises, we stopped it before someone loses temper and starts a brawl...

On the other hand, I was still meditating on this subject. Yesterday I came up with the idea to do this research (something similiar that the site called Screwattack does in their show, Deathbattle), including every variables (early life, preferred weapons, physique, training, personality, other experiences). I would like to cooperate with as many Firefly/Serenity communities as I could (including a bunch of SW forums too).

I have a set of rules and a scenario for this duel:

---RULES---
- This is a 1 on 1 brawl, so no outside interference is allowed
- ...not even the ships are parts of this fight
- Both combatants use only one weapon (in this case the DL-44 vs "Mal's gun")
- This brawl can be won with either KO or DEATH

---INITIAL SCENARIO---
Han shoots down a small UFOP cargo ship carrying a valuable Weyland-Yutani crate. The ship of the Federation crashes on a nearby planet, Han lands the Falcon in safe distance from the crash site. As Han goes for the prize, realizes that the crate is discovered by Mal...
This either starts the fight after a little standoff or they go to a local bar together to sort things out, where Mal would say something to piss of Han, so we could have a and old fashined bar fight for a start, which would escalade into a gunfight outside the streets.

WHAT DO I NEED?
As many information as possible on Mal. Everything! His training, his gun's attributes, personality, everything!

Please do not bomb me with simple "Mal wins, period!" comments!

I will only add what we've come up with here several times, that being that Mal is committed and dedicated to doing what he thinks is the right thing to do (so much so that he does what most would consider the "wrong things" for a JOB, a lifestyle) while Hans had to be kicked into committing to anything and was only out for himself and some "tail". Something tells me Mal could fight dirtier too, heh.

Harrison Ford was prettier to me (back in the day) than Nathan is though

Just personal opinion. But then, I wouldn't join people because they're pretty, I'd join Mal for his dedication

Are there any Firefly sources out there EXCLUDING the show and the movie? Comics and/or books? Just asking, cause I've head about something! :)

I came up with an interesting non-canon solution. Whatever happens with the prize in the scenario (Mal takes it all or he split with Han which I doubt), he sells it to the Weyland-Yutani...and buys Serenity! :D

Done The Impossible documentary
Graphic Novels published by Dark Horse, including Those Left Behind

Those are all from Joss Whedon, except the documentary.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

There are also a couple of RPG books from Margaret Weiss Productions, but not having seen them I don't know how reliable their information about the 'verse may be.

IMO, the fight would likely be a draw, since both Mal and Han are more interested in keeping their own skin intact than they are in any one particular heist.

First off, Welcome!

Second, in a straight up fight, I'd go with Mal.
He's a combat proven soldier and leader. Wicked tolerance to pain, when he got tortured he came back with one liners.
Han reacted to torture by screaming like I would have.
Never followed the Star Wars EU so don't know they determined Han's backstory to be.

Third, Weyland-Yutani crate contains Alien eggs.

You could write questions here, but this is the "General Discussions" forum, and your post can quickly get buried with the volume of posts we sometimes get (not as much as in the past, but still has more than other sub-boards.)

Posting it in a more specified forum here would help keep in the current listings.

Interesting idea but really, best advice? You need to go and watch "Firefly" on DVD then maybehaps round it off with the Big Dam Movie that followed the series, "Serenity". You will not be disappointed and all of your gorram questions will find shiny answers. Good luck!
