Serenity was everything I expected and more. Saw it twice opening weekend and loved it both times. My only quarrel is that they replaced the original mule...the beloved fourwheeler gone because of increased budget. The new one did make room for a damn good chase scene though.

According to the novelization, the new mule was bought with the money they got for selling the Lassiter.

The old mule, you may recall, got pretty banged up in "War Stories." Okay, it got pretty BLOWN UP. DeCandido wrote that Kaylee helped it along as long as she could, but it never worked the same.

I thought it was pretty apparent that the mule wasn't going to work after "War Stories".

Plus, the crew needed something more exciting to have a "car-chase" in than a ATV.
