Okay, so shoot me for being a firefly-philistine or whatever but where did the names GABRIEL and REAGAN for Simon and River's parents come from? Are they officially the names of the Tam parents or are they just the agreed upon names that people just decided sounded right for the characters???

Also: someone left a comment for my fic (shameless promoting coming up) 'Silent Memories' - and they said it was spelt 'Regan' and not 'Reagan'. It's just I've seen is spelt 'Reagan' the majority of the time but in 'King Lear' it's spelt 'Regan'. I don't know how 'King Lear' relates to Firefly but you know...I'm weird...

Granted, it's a tiny thing but the details are important I think and I would like to know.

In any case, any help would be nice...

The names are in the original script, which includes several scenes that were either never filmed or were edited out of the broadcast of "Safe" for various reasons.

Oh so cool - I never even knew the shooting scripts were on the net!! JOY!!! Thank you for the tip...although this means that I have to replace every single 'Reagan' with 'Regan' now...ugh...

Even though their names wern't mentioned, in the credits for "Safe", their names are indeed Gabriel and Regan Tam. As for her, it should be spelt Regan and not Reagan as in Ronald and Nancy. I made the same mistake in my story as well.

Although, nobody ever said anything about middle names, so I think it's open game for people to come up with middle names. In my case, I gave Gabriel the middle name of Leopold in refrence to AMADEUS, and Regan the middle name of Francis, in honor of my late grandma.

If you want to come up with middle names so as to give them your own stamp, go right ahead.
