If all postings at various Firefly sites occurred on the Sci-Fi BBoard, us browncoats would outnumber the BSG postings, pretty amazing ammo for Sci-Fi execs to ponder.

Everyone who reads this should have a Sci-Fi login and stay active there (and here of course ;) It could easily make a difference in a new movie or series.

Good idea!

We have to start interesting threads there though...I go on the SciFi board and most of the threads aren't worth replying to. Perhaps they've gotton better since the last time I looked...

At any rate, I'll start bouncing there more often!

What about ratings? Isn't BSG the highest rated Sci-fi series ever. I thought I read that some where.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

the scifi board was the first place I ever posted when I got on the internet in late '99. I was kinda active there for six months or so, but not much since I started my own site and ezboard in mid-2000. I've visited there a couple of times in the past few months, but also didn't see many threads that had a lot of substance to them. I am sure this is an over-simplification, but I sensed that board was frequented mainly by much younger members. I suppose we need to remedy that, and start a bunch of interesting threads.

Latest word I heard was that the BSG third season premiere got about 2.2 million viewers, whereas Firefly averaged around 4 mil on FOX. Even taking into consideration that some of those viewers did not become true Browncoats, you know the Firefly fanbase has to be considerably larger than that now, certainly a lot more than 2.2 million.

I just went over there but there was a message about their boards being down for an upgrade but they might be running again sometime tomorrow.

Just in case I encounter anyone else over there, my screen name at scifi is easygordon, which is just another variation of E.C. Gordon that I use here.

Slightly misleading premise there.

What happens to the figure if you lump messages from any non-scifi channel BSG sites?

Exactly Kane,

If BSG has huge ratings, and the Firefly Board is just as active (or even more so) that would tell the sci-fi execs that there is a huge audience for more Firefly.

As for the quality of the posts, WE need to post there, not just lurk. Make it interesting. There are good numbers of people there already.

IMO this is the best way to get Serenity back in the air. better (and more interesting) than petitions and big damn thank yous.

No. Things like Legend Of Earthsea and Taken got the highest ratings ever, whereas Eurekea has scored higher average ratings than BSG.

There are folks over there who post news from here to there and back again and have remained loyal members of that board. You're right about posting there and about making it interesting.
We need to contribute to the level of what is said over there. That board is monitored too, hopefully someone somewhere will notice if there is a steady uptick of members and those members stay active.

I would say that posting over there and being a large presence and being interesting would be a welcome addition to other forms of guerilla marketing and fan endeavors.
