Some Flick Picks for yah...

Saw "Ride with the Devil" and can really see how Joss could get all fired-up & inspired. Nice piece of work, and from a Chinese director no less! Toby McGuire was very good, as were the other actors. Toby even has a line of dialog, reading a letter out load, where he says "Serenity". And the whole existentialist thang is there as well. At the end, Tody says: "Ain't right, ain't wrong... just is."

Saw "Thank You For Smoking" and gotta say, I LMAO completely. Great satire! A movie every Browncoat will "get" regardless of your take on smoking. Me, I like good cigars, but I can't stand cigarettes. Go figure. Still lookin' for that Cuban Cigar-lovin Hottie Browncoat...

Saw "Posse" -- a Mario Van peebles Western that actually depicts black folks as cowboys and outlaws & such -- gasp! Could it be true? [sarcasm meter on for the historically-challenged]. Nice to see some real history on screen vis-a-vis the Western for a change. Most folks never read or know about the Black Cowboys.

Saw "Quigley Down Under" -- been on a Western kick ever since I got my 1858 Remington a week ago (pics are coming soon) -- and while I'm not exactly a Tom Selleck fan, gotta say, he did a good job with this one. Reminded me a lot of "Valdez is Coming" one of my fave Burt Lancaster flicks. Same premise almost.

Am currently watching "Cowboy Bebop: the Movie" at the moment, but it's not grabbin' me much. The dialog's a bit too juvenile for me I guess.

CHINDI


Ride with the Devil is a much missed masterpiece by Ang Lee. The casting is superb. The music rich and beautiful and the story and acting are award worthy.

Few ppl saw this civil war story, but it is just a little jewel (no pun intended) about friendship and loyalty in the time of adversity..

I loved this movie.

It is indeed a masterpiece Chindi.. one of my all time favorite movies. I loved the way Jake Roedel and Daniel Holt, a white man and a black man(Tobey Maguire and Jeffrey Wright respectively), become fast friends and warriors who know they can count on each other. When they part it's apparent that they truly love and respect each other. The adventures in between are not to be forgotten.

I thought this was Ang Lee's best film.
