Um, Hi mom? I know I thought signing up for this show would be my big break, BUT GET ME OUT OF HERE!!

There's a chick who carries around a bow but won't shoot anything USEFUL, a redneck with ADHD who just might build a machine in the middle of the night to kill us all so he and his bromance can have ramen noodles, a manipulative blond hippy who I'm pretty sure is going to go "ALL SHALL LOVE ME AND DESPAIR" any minute, a whole bunch of exhibitionists, the most pathetic prude, an Asian chick who should have "Me love you long time" tattooed on her forehead, and an alcoholic easily manipulated emptyheaded surferdude. To top it off there's a pregnant lady here AND I DON'T KNOW NOTHIN' 'BOUT BIRTHIN' NO BABIES!!!

Am I missing anyone? Personal thoughts?

I'd love it if Chef Ramsey could visit and start screaming at these twits. Well, someone needs to...

I watched the first episode, and barely got through it. These 15 people have to live with each other for a year, yet, they almost kill each other in the first couple of days? I like junk TV (Survivor), but this show Utopia just sucks.

They intentionally picked the people they knew would cause the most over-the-top drama, I think. I know that sounds obvious, but I was kind of hoping it would be like the series that PBS did- Frontier House or Texas Ranch House...

I don't think there's anything to be gleaned here. Except a nice illustration to my kid why it's good to have actionable skills that don't involve a computer. AND that people are nuts

I didn't catch the fist ep. From the second ep, I was left wondering if every one of them was just escaped from the looney bin.
The most sane among them seemed (in my short observation) that asian woman (Brie?) having sex in the hayloft, maybe the toothless redneck, and the guy that the craziest lady tried to get thrown out of the compound.

So my thought was what crazyness will each of these seemingly rational units expose in later episodes? Maybe the asian girl is just there to make all the menfolk jealous or vie for her affections/coochie.

The place would improve greatly, or at least stand a chance of functioning if they get rid of the "lawyer", "chef" and the uber-crazy lady "survivalist prepper" - otherwise they seem doomed.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

All of this junk TV might go away if people would stop watching it.

Never underestimate the stupidity of the American commercial spender.

The only thing I could really come up with as they have in common is they all have about as little self-control as possible. I actually would like to see some of the things that were mentioned in the commercials being debated, but we from RWED know how that would end anyway, don't we

A while back, I think it was The Discovery Channel, had a show called The Colony. Same concept, but much better done.

We had a nothing-ta-do-weekend (rare) and went through the whole of season 1. It IS pretty good. The stupid psychologists popping up and condescending every five minutes I could do without, but it's a lot like Junkyard Wars: Apocalypse style. Make no mistake, it was still not "reality", but we found it thoroughly entertaining and informative, so thanks again

I was saddened to see Red go instead of the crazy woman. But at least he got his wish by Bri staying.
Not sure why so many hate Bri. Particularly the viewers.

Caught a funny clip.
The crazy lady who tried to get one guy booted out, then has had the hots for him ever since, but he won't let her get near, and after/before the wedding he gets drunk and tries to get her in his bed but she declines? This crazy bimbo says she didn't want to bed with him when he is drunk. I'm thinking that waiting for some dude to sleep with her ugly butt when he is not drunk might be waitin for a train that ain't gonna come.
Huntress Dex mentions "you gotta take those opportunities when they come" or similar.

OK. Just had to Google Utopia; what I remember was way different
from the show you describe.

"an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. The word
was first used in the book Utopia (1516) by Sir Thomas More."

"an imaginary place in which the government, laws, and social conditions are perfect"

"Utopia (coined by Sir Thomas More in 1516 as the title of his book that described
an imaginary island representing the perfect society), literally: no place, from
Greek ou not + topos a place"

Wish, I see it, we used to have more substance, for one thing.
If that show becomes a hit ... a scary trend.
Or ... maybe it's this generation's Alice in Wonderland.

... oooOO}{OOooo ...

Maybe the producers misspelled Dystopia. Or they are being sarcastic.

Apparently cancelled, last airing was 31 October. Since that was the episode where Brie walked out, I had planned to stop watching anyhow. She seemed to be the only woman there that didn't scream at everybody else.
